I'm running 3 Kannons (May try out Zzap Guns) on top of my bastion.

That way 1 crew member can fire the Lascannon (I prefer it over the Quad Gun) and the others can make a mess of just about anything.

What's the total cost on that inc. the bastion?

3 Kannons (No runts or additional krew) + 1 Bastion with Lascannon = 170 points. Not bad for being pretty hard to take out and being able to take out a lot.

Not to mention he can stick a small unit of lootas inside the bastion itself with a couple of mechs to man the heavy bolters on it.

Thats a pretty nifty idea. I'll have to try that sometime.

Yeah, Lootas would also work (or a Shokk Attack Gun).

Heck, some IG veteran allies could make the thing BS4 and add some plasma (and an excuse to get a Deathstrike, as well as a Primaris Psyker which could make the Bastion invisible!)

Extra grots from the cannons Gunz can man the heavy bolters at bs3 no? (or can't a squad be on multiple levels?)

I'd not have both the lootas & cannons on there, got to spread them out bc 1) can't get killed at same time, 2) multiple fire angels. The bastion (or any building) isn't easy to get down from so if things are out o sight the loota's can't do much.

But yea a bastion might be worth it, sounds like a plan. Lascannon is same price as quad gun right? And it's a s9 gun?
But if cannons can go on top, can my allied hammerhead?

Go for the big gunz in smaller games, a personal favourite is the zzap!

The norm is that I am usually forced to play around 1250-1500 points because my regular opponents love to play high point games, much to my chagrin. I can see the use of 9 big guns in a 1500 point battle.

When it comes to the unit not being targetting, my looted wagons never get even looked at until his or her army is 2/3 gone and my boys are chopping the rest up.

lootas are "embarked" inside the bastion. Kannons are on top. The cannons are rediculously tough with a +4 cover save, and the lootas are essentially in a close topped battlewagon. Need to check how many can fire out of the firing ports on the bastion though. Either way thats a stupidly hard to crack firebase for fairly cheap.

Also, not sure how much the kannons would be able to shoot from on top, because if something gets too close they may not be able to aim low enough to shoot it.

Kannons are really nice to run with SAG meks. They can both blow out infantry, heavy infantry, and vehicles, and it shields the mek nicely.
