I count on people ignoring the predators until its too late. It's hard to engage AV 13 at 30"+. Unless you bring the lascannons like I do.

When is it "too late?" Predators don't really exert very much influence in terms of overall threat.

Depends on what they're shooting at. What do you consider a threat? Against some armies like CSM and Space Wolves, killing all their transports from a range is pretty important. I think.

Please,

-vin·di·cate (vnd-kt)
tr.v. vin·di·cat·ed, vin·di·cat·ing, vin·di·cates
1. To clear of accusation, blame, suspicion, or doubt with supporting arguments or proof: "Our society permits people to sue for libel so that they may vindicate their reputations" (Irving R. Kaufman).
2. To provide justification or support for: vindicate one's claim.
3. To justify or prove the worth of, especially in light of later developments.
4. To defend, maintain, or insist on the recognition of (one's rights, for example).
5. To exact revenge for; avenge.

-pred·a·tor (prd-tr, -tôr)
n.
1. An organism that lives by preying on other organisms.
2. One that victimizes, plunders, or destroys, especially for one's own gain.

In my opinion the Predator is used against high toughness multi wound models that you need to take down. Kinda like needing to take down a war elephant, it's something that you don't want your opponent to have (in the medieval age at least)

The Vindicator really is very scary, it might actually be a blessing from the Big E himself, to 1. clear you from "cheese" cat calls 2. prove the E is awesome and pwns all. 3. show the worth of tanks everywhere. 4. Board Control. 5. Kill the heretics.

It's a no brainer here guys

When it comes to the vindicator; as much as I love it, its hit or miss....seriously. Its just a single shot that scatters. Yeah, you may catch your buddy of guard when he or someone you know is playing a hoard.

But GOD does it suck when it misses. Its like someone pissing in your wheaties. All that power for nothing.

Because of the chance to miss so easily, I always always take brother corbulo for the single re roll. One Big Shot. But boy do I love it when it hits....and the complete opposite when it misses.

I prefer Predators over Vindicators for the simple fact that they provide more reliable, and longer ranged, firepower.

The thing about the vindicator though, is that it has a short ranged and inherantly fairly inacurate main gun, that can demolish pretty much anything it hits. Since most people know this, it can have a profound effect on the game, attracting firepower, having your opponents maneuver round it in an effort to avoid it and so forth. When you keep it in reserve it can convince your opponents that deepstriking 'there' is a bad idea. in essence, its a psychological weapon that gives you a measure of board control even before you fire it, i've fought dozens of battles where my lone vindicator affected the whole course of the battle without firing a single shot.

So despite the reliability of the predator, and the range of it, it doesn't have the same 'wow' factor as the vindicator

Vindis should be ran in at least 2. that way when they draw the fire at least one should last through turn 5

Not sure I'd count on that. I've fragged three vindicators by turn three before. With average rolls. People move them up to shoot and then they start getting shot on the side armor with MM and stuff from attack bikes. On the other hand, if I were all meltagun all the time ASM out the wazoo guy, that would have been very bad for me. The Vindicator gets mad respect from me.

The vindicator gets respect from everyone or they learn the lesson of why they should respect it. This weekend I'm going to be playing. I'm going to try a 3 Heavy Support; 2 vindicaotors, 1 Predator w/ss LC. or visa versa, 2 vind 1 pred. I haven't decided yet. I'll let you guys know the result.
