My Sonnia Criid crew. As usual, a link to some thoughts.

Continuing with the pyro theme, some tricky work painting fire.

A big one today: the full Jacob Lynch crew, with the usual notes, but this time with bonus angelic nomenclature!

This is great stuff! I especially like the Jacob Lynch crew, very supernatural and dark.

With your ability with OSL I am surprised that there is none really evident on Sonnia? It looks like a model where you could have really shown your chops.

Oh and I really like the blog too, there are some great tips in there.

Cheers, Shanks

Thanks! Yeah, I felt the near-monochrome feel worked well with them.

With regular sonnia, I'm fine with her not having OSL- she's on a dry bright base, and fire really isn't that comparatively bright during the day. If you're talking about her avatar, I agree- I was trying to do something stylized but what it comes down to was I was kind of overwhelmed by her being completely surrounded by light sources. I'm definitely going to revisit her at some point-- if you have any ideas on the matter, LMK, I'd be happy to hear them.

Thanks, re: blog I feel like most people just look at the pics and move on, so it's always nice to hear that someone's benefitting from all that typing.

Some revisions on the Lynch crew, with notes on the process.

So... probably the most ambitious painting project I've done recently, and I feel it deserves a few highlights: the Nothing Beast's torso is actually around 1/2" longer than normal to exaggerate his form, the paint job was entirely guesswork (I tested the photos after completing everything).

Also, I'd like opinions on whether the NB should get a sand base like the Wretches or is fine with nothing extra on his base, as-is.

I was holding off on these guys for Wyrd Chronicles' gallery... a bit disappointed they didn't get in, but it gave me time to finish the rest of the core crew, so there'll be less of a delay between this half and the other, so, silver linings and all that. A link to more notes, as always.

I second that praise on your fire effects. Man, they look great. This whole thread is impressive. Subbed.

Your Jacob crew is subtle yet very impressive! The big guy with the stick is absolutely fantastic! The photo negative look is also inspired.

I love coming back to this thread, can't say that enough!

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

They remind me of oil paintings, but in 3d. I like it! Very dark Cult of December... nice take on them. (though I never did like that Wendigo mini. Putting it up higher is a good move.

Thanks! I do a fair amount of illustration, so I guess it's starting to show

And yeah, the wendigo was a little derpy on the ground, I also felt the box helped, and then did harsh shading so it was a little harder to make out the silly parts. I guess Wyrd also thought it needed to be taller, what with the new one bouncing off some Guild guy.

Also, next: a Sonnia crew, with more words here (and yes, some of them explain why Sam is missing a piece).

Forgot to post Collodi from some time ago. Also, Daydreams for the same crew (with notes on how they connect to LCB from the first post).

So atmospheric, these are great! Especially like the shadow on the base, suits the whimsical nature of malifaux if that makes any sense.
