When it comes to the Alpha legion I refuse to believe that primarchs were so guillable as to buy the BS the xenos were selling. I tend to believe that when confronted by the million year old elder races of the galaxy that they were dominated through mind control to believe it. The Cabal however got more than they bargained for. The assistance of Alpharius & Omegon was circumspect at best & not going to be exactly as they ordered. As for there double cross of the Cabal, I don't see it happening. By the time Horus gets to Terra I believe that the Alpha Legion will be hopelessly corrupted. Layer upon layer of lies, deciet & obsfucation make lots of dark, shadowy crvices for chaos to get in.

As for the IoM, it would be a mind blowing, soul shredding nightmare-scape akin to the Eye of Terror. The Cabal would then have bought themselves a few more centuries.

According to the HH series im pretty sure the cabal said that the human race would devour itself within a few generations if Horus was to win the final battle. Obviously there was a little more detail as to what was going to happen but thats basically it.

You should probably read the previous posts before replying. You would notice that a good chunck of this topic is people commenting that that story is probably a lie. That the Cabal are trying to trick the Alpha Legion.

Given the nature of chaos, which Primarch & Legion do you think would of been the first to undoubtedly challenge Horus & his legion for power/bragging rights had the heresy succeeded and Horus survived. This is on the assumption that the prophecy of Alparius that a successful heresy would of caused chaos to eventually fold would have taken a fair amount of time to occur,

Common sense says it would be Angron due to the nature of Khorne, or maybe even Horus would put him down himself...

ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."

Dorn won’t help you either. He’s too busy being the Emperor’s groundskeeper, hiding behind the palace walls. The Wolf is too busy cutting off heads as our father’s executioner, while the Lion holds on to his secrets, and has no special fondness for you. Who else will come? Not Ferrus, certainly. Nor Corax either. Even as we speak, I suspect he flees for Deliverance. Sanguinius?’ Curze laughed cruelly. ‘The angel is more cursed than I. The Khan? He does not wish to be found. So who is left? Humanity would have entered into another Age of Strife. Without the Emperor to power the Astronomican, humanity would lose the ability to travel through the warp and planets/systems would once again be cut off from each other.

I'm not so sure, The Alpha Legion are alone among the Astartes in knowing of the existance of the primordial Annihilator, what we don't know is exactly what about chaos they know. Whatever it is could have been enough to make Alpharius take the risk that it was a big alien wind-up.

I don't believe the Alpha Legion believed the primordial annihilator crap, especially since it told to him by an Allien belonging to a group that created one of the Chaos Gods, it was just another attempt by foul Xenos to feth over humanity. If not then Alpharius truly was the most mock worthy of primarchs.

Like the great storm of the Horus Heresy, the forces of the True Gods will descend upon the Emperor's minions. The stars will tremble at their passage and the mighty armadas of the Warmaster Abaddon will bring annihilation to a hundred worlds. Know this, for these things will come to pass.

I disagree.

Common sense says that all of the primarchs would have rebelled against Horus the moment the Emperor had been thrown down. It would easily have devolved into a second civil war as the alliance Horus had forged was extremely fragile. As it stood he had trouble just getting all of his brothers to follow his commands. Angron was the first to disobey, at Isstvan III. Fulgrim purposely disobeyed by having a layover on the way to Mars, etc.

If Alpharius had sided with the Imperium, they could have tipped it enough that Horus would have been defeated early allowing the Imperium to continue growing. Imagine having AL infiltrators coming in and stiring up further aminosities amongst the traitor primarchs. The distrust was already pretty high so it wouldn't have taken much for the experts AL supposedly was.

By turning from the Imperium and helping Horus there were only two remaining outcomes for humanity: Slow death or a burning galaxy due to continued primarch / legion level conflict.

Slow Death is what we got because both Horus and the Emperor failed.

Essentially, I think the cabal limited what they showed to two possible futures and purposely twisted the labels. Also I believe they purposely didn't show a third possibility: that the Emperor wins. The cabal wanted the Imperium to die; slowly or quickly didn't much matter as long as it expired. So, the Alpha Idiots either fell for the ruse or were simply twisted enough that they were willing to follow Horus for regardless simply because they liked him.
