All over the republic really. I was trying to do a nationwide fluke survey, but getting access to samples of milk was a real stumbling block. The other problem was I needed to cross check my samples with faecal and blood samples from a representative selection of farms, and I couldn't really do that with any degree of accuracy or proper scientific rigour because I had to work with farmers who would actually allow me onto their farms, instead of any kind of centralised database.

The farming lobby is really powerful, and even when it is trying to help out the department of agriculture is treated with suspicion.

It really is strange that it is illegal to slaughter horses, or any animal really, for meat.

The only issue here really is truth in advertising. If you say its beef it better not be something else.

I have eaten horse before and I didn't like it but I know there are people that do. And quite frankly there needs to be an outlet for horses that arn't wanted anymore. Too many horses don't have homes and there is simply not a legal way to dispose of them besides selling them to another person, which isn't happening in this economy.

At the very least they could be used for petfood. It's dumb to outlaw the slaughter of an animal who's numbers are become a nuisence and a burden. Its cruel to not have a way of disposing of them properly, and all the better if they can be used in a viable way.

It's not right to sell horse to consumers who have ponied up for beef.

I said that. Truth in advertising. But if someone wants to sell horsemeat I say let them.

Indeed, the fault is all mine - I will apologize until my voice is hoarse.

Meh, I've had some pretty nasty horse. Course it was in Kazakhstan and it was in some sort of sausage.

This is getting out of control; we need to rein it in a bit.

I might try it in a different form. Not opposed to the idea, but believe me that sausage was nasty.
