Hey man, team allegiance isnt a conscipus choice or decision, you're born to support a team, you dont pick which team that is. I was born and raised in New York City, I drifted between the Rangers, Islanders, Penguins, Ducks (damn you Disney!!) and Sharks for many years... then i moved to New Jersey, fell in love with the Devils and the rest is history.

If that is the case then I'm not born to root for anyone. Cleveland doesn't have an NHL team and so I didn't grow up supporting a pro team. We were the Barons, the Lumberjacks, and the.Barons again serving as the minor league team to the Penguins, now, with the Lake Erie Monsters, we're the minor league team for the blue jackets, a team I don't like, so I don't have a team to root for but I'm looking for a team to follow

Why not Buffalo? The Sabres almost have a pirate theme going with the crossed blades...
Of course I am a Flyers fan. Grew up with the Broad Street Bullies and Dave "The Hammer" Schultz.
Of all the races of the universe the Squats have the longest memories and the shortest tempers. They are uncouth, unpredictably violent, and frequently drunk. Overall, I'm glad they're on our side!

11 goals in the first two games? Are you kidding me!
a Stanley cup in 2010!
Sharp and Kane are two of the most amazing players in the NHL. The rest of the team is not bad either. Plus the Hawks are gonna win the cup this year anyway if they continue on this trend of scoring an average of 5.5 goals a game.
Root for the best team in the NHL!

Your team has nothing to do with where you're from or where you live mate.Penguins are from Pittsburgh, the Ducks and Sharks California... I've never been to either of those places. Closest I ever got to Pittsburgh was a night in Toledo, Ohio. Anaheim/San Jose was two days in Seattle. My football teams are the Saints and Raiders, Raiders are a California team and closest I've been to NOLA was Orlando, Florida sadly enough. You were born to be a fan of some team or another, its just a question of which one and how you find it. I recently got a friend into hockey, his team? Nashville Predators because he likes the way Pekka rinne minds the net, and from there he grew to love the rest of the team.

So then why can't I base "my team" on which uniform I like the best? If I spend time watching their games, don't I want to at least enjoy the way they look on the ice while I'm learning the game?

I guess, im just saying its not a conscious choice, its just something that happens. In other words you're thinking about it too much, go watch some games on tv and see where it takes you.

Yep, for the longest time I was a Red Wings fan by conscious choice... Then I really started to watch them, and all that red had me seeing.. well, red. About that time was when the Canucks changed their unis to the ones right before the current blue/green/white ones, and now I'm hooked on the Nucks. (it also doesnt hurt that they are geographically, the closest to where I grew up)
Whooo! The future Norris Defenseman just tied it for the Blues!
Edit: dammit... the kid who was instramental in that last goal just cleared the puck into the crowd . Bad kiddo!
