The minotaurs is a chapter with multiple parents.

Personally, I wish people would stop saying this or the World Eaters theory like it's "fact"...

You're right, it's just one of the theories in IA 10. I'm sorry. *cuddles*

I've also heard people say "oh there's evidence in the HH books that some members of the lost legions were folded into the ultramarines after they were disbanded." Don't know about it one way or another, since I've never really read those doorstoppers.

I remember reading somewhere that the Black Dragons had chimeric Geneseed, and that one of their parent chapters were the Salamanders.

Whether it's true or I dreamed the whole thing or not is different matter as I haven't been able to find the source since. So likely it was a dream
nope not a dream....in one of the older sm codex and also in chapter approved within WD. I thought the 13th Founding was the one where they "fiddled" with the Geneseed to try and correct the flaws?

Its what my chapter is supposed to come from - IH and BA mixed to try and correct the BA geneseed flaw.
21st was the "Fiffling Founding".

13th was just the Dark Founding, and most records of the chapters from that Founding are lost.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

The trial Cursed Founding army list that was published in White Dwarf included a note that it was also suitable for Dark Founding chapters as there was very little difference between the two Foundings.

Having different geneseed in one person would be silly, because when you get right down to it, a space marine is a human being with a symbiotic organism (the geneseed organs) grafted onto it.

Normally, the geneseed regulates things so there is no problem (indeed, certain organs even regulate others).

However, having geneseed organs from two different sources would be like getting an organ transplant and taking no immunosuppressants. The two sets of geneseed organs would reject one another.

The thing to realize, however, is that this would only prevent an individual marine from having two types of geneseed. It would not prevent a chapter from being 50% Ultramarine stock, 25% BA stock, etc (though considering that different geneseed has slightly different properties, and one of the advantages of marines is that they work so well together because they are effectively brothers, I can't see why one would want multiple types of geneseed in one chapter).

All that said, it has been implied at least once that the two lost legions were incorporated into the Ultramarines. Then again, it's also been implied that they were destroyed, so take that for what you will.

Wasnt the cursed founding chapters made up of multiple parent chapters?

No, the cursed founding was when the Adeptus Mechanicus fiddled with geneseed in a failed attempt to fix the flaws that had popped up over time.

On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible.

For my custom chapter fluff, my chapter has mixed geneseed, causing most imp forces to shun them, because of mutations. Becoming albinos, fangs, anger managment issues, the mutations vary between soldiers, nothing to serious like tentacles or horns.

The starting point for such fiddling would have been to compare faulty geneseed with functional geneseed, its a fair bet at least a few attempts at fixing things involved replacing faulty bits with non-faulty bits from another bloodline.

A. No that is not mentioned in the GK fluff, what is mentioned is that the geneseed is new and unique, (an amalgum of geneseeds cannot be unique by its very nature, so your idea doesn't work.)

If the different geneseeds are combined in such way that it forms new geneseed, then it is unique. It is like your genetics are unique (unless you have an identical twin) even though they're combination of your parents' genes.

I don't think that Imperium today has know-how to do this, but it is possible that ten thousand years ago they did.

On a somewhat related note I seem to remember reading that some new chapters have been formed from the remnants of other badly depleted chapters, or that under-strength chapters have 'taken in' the remnants of almost destroyed chapters.

I'd think that in such cases they'd only combine chapters that had same geneseed to begin with.
