Eradicator for me just because it looks so funky. And it's not as useless as some people think.

Noticed the Thunderer (think Leman Russ variant of the Vindicator) and the Destroyer (Thunderer with a bloody massive tank-hunting laser instead) have been missed off but then they are also specialised FW variants.

Punishers with a DA ally giving them prescience and maybe making them INVISIBLE? Behold the unstoppable silent killer.

I shall go against the grain and say the Exterminator. Plonk Pask in it with a hull lascannon and bolter sponsons , heavy stubber and hunter killer and you have enough dakka to make an ork green with envy. Granted its 255pts but she works well for me and every one I've used against despises the thing.

The punisher's always seemed grossly overcosted to me; mathematically it does as well as a battlecannon pieplate against geq or worse, while being worse against meq and higher (roughly ten hits, wounding on a 2+ or 3+, for 8 or 6-7 potential wounds, and 5-6 or 2 unsaved wounds, respectively), with the battlecannon being 30 points cheaper and much longer ranged. Executioners likewise eat teq alive, while a punisher could be expected to inflict a single wound against them.

The vulture's twinlinked punisher cannon on a fast skimmer for only five points above the base leman russ struck me as a better deal (speaking in terms of 5th edition here; when 6th came along I skimmed through it, raged nearly half as hard as I did at 4e D&D and am only now coming back around; from what I hear the flyer rules are horribly broken, with flyers being either invincible or immediately dead, depending on whether one's opponent is prepared to deal with them or not).


So I'd have to go with the base Leman Russ. Best main battle tank in the entire setting, in addition to being the best all around variant on the table.

Armored Battlegroup company command LR Vanquisher with the Mars Alpha hull and Ryza-pattern turret. Upgrades are a coax heavy stubber, hull LC, and beast hunter shells (instant death blast). Best looking version, and not bad rules-wise.
