Since he admits to not even seeing the movie, and thus is going by what others think and feel, probably not.

I just want to know what he's talking about.

And one would have to actually see the movie to be able to give an appropriate critical response. My guess is that it is a response to the actual Canadian Ambassador that was portrayed in the film has said he felt the film marginalized Canada's role in the incident. He is certainly allowed to feel the way he does as he was there and actually has seen the film. I have mixed feelings as I have no doubt that having been involved they would have liked more information about their role involved, but on the other hand the film isn't a documentary and it isn't called Argo and the Canadian Government. Having seen the film I never got the impression that the Ambassador was really marginalized and even showed the extreme danger he was putting himself in by hiding the Americans. Canada wasn't ignored at all, but it certainly wasn't the focus of the film.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

The wife loves these things and I got roped in. But I admit I did get sucked in and, having seen Lincoln and Les Mis, Jackman got robbed. They both put on an excellent performance but Jackman did it singing in a way that a dude that dislikes musicals that aren't Avenue Q or Book of Mormon truly enjoyed the movie.

I'm starting to think that DD Lewis could put on a dress and do cartwheels for 2.5-3 hours and win a damn best actor award......

I don't know about Dredd, but I saw Argo and Lincoln. Moonrise Kingdom kicked the living crap out of both of them. That film was epic. Cabin in the woods was better than Argo, and Bernie was better than Cabin.

Argo is an absolute insult to the real role the Canadians played during the crisis.
I won't watch the film on principal alone since it does nothing but make the Canadians out to be meek little spectators while the CIA did absolutely everything.

Wo wo wo!
Care to clarify? At the time I was all about the "Drop a Dresden on Tehran" and didn't get anything about these guys.

Well, for one thing, they had to re-do the end tag bit summarising what had happened, since the original version barely even gave a nod to the role played by the Canadians.
And the plan to smuggle the Americans out was about 90% Canadian concieved. (even Carter admits that without the Canadian inginuity, there was likely little chance at getting the six Americans out)
The film really doesn't portray the huge risks Canada took by commiting to help the stranded American personel, which is a slap in the face to our people who really did put their lives on the line to help out our southern friends.

It's more galling than anything. I realise this isn't a true documentry, (more of a docu-drama), but the point is, most people who go to see the movie will have little to no real idea of the true events behind everything and will start believing that Canada's entire role was basically, "quick guys, come hid here while your government comes up a plan to save the day & get you home!"

I mean, imagine if say a Canadian or British film maker did a D-Day film and then portrayed the landings at Omaha & Nebraska beaches as being just 'a minor side skirmish' to the other main landings?
I just think that when historically-based films are made, (which Argo is), they should be done properly and give credit where credit is due.

That's movies in general though. Some idiots think The Hurt Locker and other piles of fetid trash accurately represent OIF and OEF too.

So much agreement. The only way Dredd could have been better was with a Rob Schneider cameo.

Having Michelle Obama give out the award would have had me throw a shoe through the TV.

I thought it was a federal offence to get angry when the first lady appears in the media?

As I said in another thread Lincoln deserves praise for giving me my funniest moment of the year so far: a woman on the radio complaining the film was spoiled for her when she found out Lincoln was killed!

The scene that made the movie for me was linking in the telegraph room, with a blanket around him, just telling stories to the officers working there.
