Maybe I will go back someday?
Bah... I was the opposite... hard-core democrat liberal when I was a pup.
Then... I grew up.
Now I'm a "South Park Conservative".

General appreciation/reward new ideas in anything. Nostalgia is nice but I am on this round planet for the new and trying to create with the least borrowing possible. This is why Dakka can be fun.

And dammit, I'm keeping my spicy food, no matter how old I get. I don't care that I may need to buy a new toilet the next morning.
I still listen to punk, and am also 27, but also find myself listening to the above. Kept singing Hotel California the other day, all day. And spicy food fo sho. What's your standard death sauce?
I still do, just around fewer people.

Yup.
I've also lost the faith I once had. It used to be the center of my being and now it just makes no practical sense to me whatsoever.

I've stopped watching TV, because it's all crap. Most new music is also crap, and the 1% that isn't is either barely tolerable, or gets played to death within weeks.

I've recently started getting back into them. As a youngster going to Blockbuster and picking up a new game for the week was the best thing ever. Now I can download all of those. I have hours of gameplay to catch up on.

I think when you get old your pride goes away. You can't really pee into a catheter (a plastic bag where your pee goes into when you can't go to the bathroom yourself) and still feel a sense of pride and maintain self respect. I can imagine self respect goes out the window once you become old. Sadly it seems everything awesome you can or could've done happened yesterday whereas now you can't do much so you spend all your time remembering the good ol' days.

I didn't think it would happen but I find myself drifting away from console games. Also I don't feel as compelled to own a bunch of sci-fi novels, games, movies, swag, or material items in general.
My music tastes have changed in that it incorporates more types as I grow older.

Hell, I didn't GET a console of my own until I was 32- which was a PS2 - and that was because it was cheaper than a DVD player at the time.
I find I play games on it about the same as I did back then. I still listen to the music I listened to as a 'kid' (but I didn't actually listen to music as a young teen - not getting into it until I was 19 or so).
But the "it's all been done before" thing ? Yeah. I see that.

Old patients may have zero control over anything that is happening to them. They might not be able to tell us what they need, or tell us what they want. They might never hold a loved one again or feel like they are needed. But they always have their pride and dignity until death takes them. At least that is how I tread my patients and how I feel they should be treated.
