I love metal. Manowar is my favorite band. I also like power metal, like rhapsody of fire and dream evil. Sabaton is good too. Keep the metal going dakka! \m/

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and erase all doubt. 4000pts Steel Talons
Holy feth! I just found out that The Prince of Darkness, The Grandfather of Metal, Satan's Right Hand, Ozzy Osbourne and the original lineup of Black Sabbath are coming to play a gig in my city!!!!
I've wanted to see them since I was like 10 years old but never thought I'd get the chance.

May the the blessings of His Grace the Emperor tumble down upon you like a golden fog. (Only a VERY select few will get this reference. And it's not from 40k. )
I've been known to dabble in metal but I definitely wouldn't call myself a hessian. I love Sabbath, thrash and early death meta. l am ambivalent to most NWBHM, hate most hair metal and can't stand black metal.
For the most part my bread and butter is hardcore/punk. Even then though most of my favorites are crossover bands that are pretty much only separated from being straight up metal bands by there attitude and aesthetic. The Cro-Mags pretty much just ripped off Slayer's demo tape and Sheer Terror's first albums were just Celtic Frost with a jaded old skinhead complaining about paying bills and dealing with depression. Alternatively, most of the metal bands I really love (Metallica, Slayer, Bolt Thrower) all had huge punk/hardcore influences.
I'm also a huge fan of 90's style metalcore along the lines of Integrity, ringworm, slugfest, one king down, etc. Of course, these bands are really only nominally related to what most people would consider metalcore nowadays.
I just bought tickets earlier this week to go see Bolt Thrower, Autopsy and Benediction in Pomona in may. I'm really excited.
I listen to many genres of music, but metal is certainly one of my favourites. I look like a classic metalhead too, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Hardcore/Punk, especially 80s-late 90s stuff, is pure gold. My favourites are probably Black Flag, Minor Threat, Husker Du, AFI (up to Art of Drowning, then it went downhill from there) and the Misfits, what about you?
Old style metalcore certainly is pretty good, especially compared to modern -core which seems to be populated by bands who rip off As I Lay Dying or Lamb of God.

You're not seeing the original lineup. Bill Ward is not included
Pity, He's the only original Sabbath member I haven't seen live.

Anything off of early dischord, SST or TAANG records is solid gold. My favorite is probably late 80's Revelation Records bands (Youth of Today, Judge, Sick of it All, Warzone, Gorilla Biscuits, Inside out) and grimier NYHC like Sheer Terror and the Cro-Mags. As far as metalcore goes it's a genre name that has been completely misappropriated by crap that has almost no lineage linking it to the pioneers.

Haha, that's rad.
Since people are showing Black Flag some love in this thread, I'll go ahead and post my friend, Henry Garfield, and myself driving around listening to Chamillionare.
