Send some our way. The only places that get snow in Oz is a few of the mountains. I'd love snow purely for the fact i could peg snowbals at my brother.

We've had at least 6 inches of snow in the north of the UK. Probably closer to 9 or 10.

Hamburg Germany

Although it is not common to have snow this late of season, when it comes late, it stays late around here. But why oh why does the light railway be so completely surprised that there is snow at all? It is not as we NEVER see it around here,,, yet everytime there is the slightest hint of white cover the Hamburg light rail decides they must not use their two-system electric cars anymore... switches get blocked by freeze... signals dysfunction... Come on, it is not as they would have to use a snow plow!
Sigh... in former time everything was better... when the lokomotions were giant boilers on wheels, signals worked on petrol lanterns and wires, every switch had a coal oven for heating up the mechanism in winter, and there were men outside with kind of hand flamers to unfreeze the signal wires... I swear, in the steam age german railways were more on point than now, although winter was more often heavy then. But then, they were a government organisation, not regulated by free trade. They actually cared about their task, not about their dividend.

I am glad to see misery loves company- saw the news EU and UK were getting nailed with blizzards. Weird weather this year.
At least we do have the clean up equipment. The clean up guys have made so much overtime they can take the warm 4 months off. Up here the only guaranteed month without snow is August...

i hear that there still is skiing in higher altitudes in Australia and New Zealand - is that true? I get a kick out of swimming in the ocean and skiing in the same day...
