The line infantry section could be interesting though in a long Only War campaign, watching the squad and characters grow from rigid thinking and combat to embrace different combat doctrines, specialties and approaches to their lives than they ever thought they would have to. But in the short term I do agree, hunter-killer, recon, penal, those are where the action's at.

Character creation is very different, as are skills and leveling up...there are a lot of changes which have happened between rogue trader, ROGUE trader, and Only War.

There aren't even levels anymore for example, actions are a bit different (I think) and the skills are very different. You'd be hard pressed to use the rules together. A rogue trader character may be able to operate, but that would be up to the GM, and they'd need to make exceptions for how they get equipment, how they level up, etc.

how about the rogue trader and his team are mercs for hire?

I don't understand, do you mean play with entirely rogue trader rules? Or have the team be Only War soldiers using Only War rules and you be a rogue trader using RT rules?

I have been meaning to GM for a while now and I have some ideas for a campaign so I don't mind volunteering but I will need a while to get organised.

That'd be just brilliant...now all we need is to know times when everyone is free.

Who is interested and, classes are they interested in and how do they want to play those classes (social, melee, ranged, stealthy etc)? I will probably keep something like the regiment that i posted earlier unless anyone has any objections?

I would prefer if most, if not all, players were guardsmen but a couple of support specalists would be fine (but no Commissars please).

The basic outline for the setting is that the regiment is recently raised and has been assigned to a newly created Rogue Trader with strong ties to the Adeptus Munitorum (he is an Imperial Guard Marshall who was granted his Warrant of Trade as a reward for the pacification of the Severiniun sector rebellion) to act as a shore party and to provide heavy support in boarding actions and ship security. The Rogue Trader, Svalman Giest, has recently arrived in the Koronus expanse and will soon make his first forrays beyond Port Wander.

This will allow lots of scope for varied worlds, beasties and situations but it will not be a RT campaign, there will be no Space combat or high politics; it will very much be space grunts Vs space mooks.

Mine The hunter killer team with assault stubbers and carapace but I'm flexable.

Timings haven't really been arranged yet. I can manage 2000-2330 GMT on weekdays and all day Saturday (say 0900 onwards).

Ah ok. the infamous HK regiment; all in a hellhound, or all walking with a lucky guy in a Sentinel!

I dunno, half the fun is making the regiment, a bit like in RT, half the fun is making the ship...but that's jsut me talking...

Or we all do our own regiment, and we simply go picked by the marhsall as his close guard from the pool of regiments that served under him?

I would prefer everyone to have a simliar(ish) background to tie in with the IG theme.
