For a measly 15 pts, you turn it from a "light infantry killer" to a "light infantry AND vehicle killer"
Seeing as most light infantry armies have light vehicles as well (or MC), I'd say it's never a bad investment
And what's not lovely about firing a barrage of rockets at your opponent ?
that's why MRP Valkyries are much cooler than Vendettas :
"FSHOUW FSHOUW BOOOM !" is much better than "pew pew pew !"

That's his point. They both hit on 2+, Wound on 2+ and have the same number of shots. But the Heavy Bolter is twin-linked, so against light infantry it is better. Of course, it's not that much better, but still better.
They both don't wound on 2+! Heavy bolter is Strength 5, so Skyhammers wound marines twice as often! Of course Typhoons have AP3, so they're even more effective (though expensive.)

Something just clicked with me. Can your Heldrakes kick hover mode? If not, then the Stormtalons shooting at your rear armor are only hitting on 6's. A model in hover mode cannot use the Skyfire special rule. Automatically Appended Next Post: Crimson wrote:Chrysis wrote:

That's the thing. With the points I save by running them with Skyhammers I can give my sergeants combi-weapons or a power weapon. I never run less than 3, so the points add up.

Kingsley wrote:I advocate keeping things simple with the twin-linked assault cannon and heavy bolters. Most of the time you'll probably be flying over flyers to fire your Assault Cannon into their rear armor anyway
how are you flying over and firing your assault cannon at the rear armor? Are you playing the assault cannon as a turrent?

Yes, the Assault Cannon is a 360 degree turret. This can be determined because it can physically move around 360 degrees.

I'd have to get up and check mine but I thought the weapon pods on the side get in the way

I have a Stormtalon model and can confirm this is legit-- the weapons go all the way around.

The Marine Standing Behind Marneus Calgar

When I was assembling mine, I considered moving the turret up into the chin to streamline the looks. I decided to leave it as designed, to prove that it rotated 360. One of my last games someone thought it was fixed, so I just twisted it around until it pointed at his rear armor. Shut down that argument real fast.
It's one of the hidden perks of the model that doesn't show up on paper.
