yes, he had a level 4, but i was playing heardstone. I had 11 dice to his 5 because of a good channel. He dispelled wild form and the first miasma and was down to 2 dice with with 2 miasma to come, he then tried to dispel the second miasma with a single die and rolled a natural 2 which is a failure. At that point he had a level 2 to dispel with and i just doubled up dice for the remainder of the phase. Your pluses don't matter when you are dominated in the magic phase by a herdstone. I have 3 50/50 one die chances on miasma that I may bait with or roll two die each and let the level 4 go last so people tend to sit on their dispell dice. Once my beast shaman gets into combat I will typically have 12 die magic phases from there on out with the jagged dagger. The only army that has ever stood up to the herdstone dispel wise is the Becalming lizards since my lvl 4 is always in range.
It is very easy to get a dominating magic phase when you play beastmen.
He also had to burn his dispel scroll on an up powered savage beast or he would have really been up sh!t creek. I would have gotten 7-9 power dice for next magic phase on the jagged dagger.

Drain magic. Drain Magic, Drain Magic.
It's the best counter in the game to low level wizard spam.
He should be using great eagles to go hunt down those level 1's as well.
It's not like beastmen are going to shoot or magic missile an eagle away.

High magic only has two spells you really need to stop. Drain Magic is top priority with Vaul's unmaking as the second priority depending on what you have. I don't let life mages cast throne of vines either, I am silly like that.
We could theory craft this all day but his eagles were busy redirecting the bestigors and playing circle jerk with one of my chariots and a razorgor.
I told you what happened and how. I do my best to prevent drain magic when playing against HE because as you pointed out its pretty damn good. Especially if they have a curse of ages running.

Vauls Unmaking isn't so great for that Gor-Star. The BSB isn't going to be happy to lose his banner.
Flames of the Phoenix isn't great for you, big units don't like spells that say, everybody take a hit, then everyone is going to take another hit.
That's 3 spells you really don't want going off.
I'd expect to see a level 4 with 4-5 spells and a level 2 who chooses 2 spells.
On top of that, they both have drain magic.
You should be facing 5-6 spells that you don't want going off.

with an average magic phase of 7 dice, no, and he only runs the lvl4 with high magic. I think he was using death on his level 2 to snipe at my chafe units. Does anyone here not take a dispell scroll as well?

You're telling me he didn't take the +D3 power dice banner?
Crazy.

I don't think so, remember he is realatively new to the HE (see beginning of post) I will mention it to him. Even if he did It still doesn't stop a poor winds roll like a 6 and 1 and a 1. I don't think he played bad, I just piled on at the right time. He is generally a good player we usually split games. All in all I am not even sure this maters as the HE are getting a new dex in a week?

High Elves are not getting a new dex. They will, in fact, never ever get a new dex. They are getting a new Army Book next month though
