Does anyone know how Andy's plastic troopers are coming along? I blindly stumbled across their WIP page on the Heresy website earlier today and noticed that it hasn't been updated in almost 10 months, The Forum of Doom thread about them also hasn't been touched since November of last year.

I don't think he's really been doing work on them. The focus right now seems to be on getting some dragons out the door.

There's also the kickstarter thread where he was asking whether to go for a fantasy boardgame (dungeon crawler) or sci fi troopers I think, and support was strongly on the fantasy side.

First I've seen of those proposed plastic troopers. I think those would sell pretty well, I know I'd be in for a bunch.

He mentioned in the thread that part of the reason he's eager to finish the dragon is that folks who hadn't received it would give him negative press if he made a kickstarter.

I believe he said "well deserved" or the like... and it would be. I really like Heresy, but he needs to cast and ship those dragons. There's not buts about it. He took people's money a loooooooooooooooooong time ago for them... and somehow, they've been waiting patiently (I bailed on my preorder almost 3 and 1/2 years ago! And swapped it for other items, but he's no longer allowing people to do that).

Yep, just checked my email, and the numbers are correct...

I paid a deposit on a dragon in January '09.

A year later, I requested to swap that deposit to other items (which he no longer allows folks to do).

It is now almost August '13...! And I think something like 175 people are still waiting on dragons. Madness

Recently, I shrugged off that experience and purchased some Excellent hobgoblins from him, though! I want him to succeed, he just needs to finish the damn dragons first. If I hadn't already bought those hobgoblins at normal price, I'd be all over buying them now at 20% off

Yeah, and I beat the drum for a while about how he should've stopped taking orders for it when he ran into problems... at least he put up a huge disclaimer on it's page, but shockingly it looks like you can still order it .

But, it's great news that he is taking time to dedicate to Only making a mold for the dragon! About time, but late is indeed definitely better than never

Yeah, that's the key difference (that he's putting forth a good faith effort... even if excuses are kind of moot after 5 years!) and so that is not a good comparison, imo.

It's funny....Heresy were ahead of their times by couple years. Had they just waited, they could have done it with a kickstarter, and probably gotten a lot more orders. Further, the delays would have been expected in that case.

On the other hand.. when that Dragon does arrive, it will be levitating under its own power, surrounded by a halo of white light and angelic fanfare..

Not only is the rent due on Thursday but I've been hit with a huge bill, so I need to raise at least £1200 pronto. To that end, I am TEMPORARILY putting the Giant on pre-order, not just as a production model but also offering a very small amount of Master Castings of him - just 5 copies! That means you get one of the very first moulded parts, with the best detail etc, but since moulds will wear out with each casting, and master moulds can't be replaced like Production moulds can, the castings are extremely precious and not usually for sale. (They are used to make the production moulds)

I am also offering 10 people the chance to get on the list for the production version, which should be shipping in June when the Kickstarter backer's copies go out..

Please note, that once I've raised sufficient funds (allowing for Paypal taking 20% repayments) I am taking the Giant OFF the site again, as I've no wish to massively increase the queue just now. I'd rather keep it undaunting.

If you know someone who likes Giants, please point them in Mucklegeet's direction.

You'll also find two more models on that page - the new Armoured Boris (again, temporarily available to pre-order) and the 'flying stand' version of the Angel, which I accidentally made when I should have been doing the pillar version but forgot it wasn't in the Kickstarter. Impressive threadromancy!

Andy always seems to be a few steps away from financial disaster, if only he'd make some more Goblins...

Yeah, I donated some money before on his last plea, but I'm, starting to wonder if he needs to just accept that his business simply cannot sustain him and his partner. He seems to stagger from financial crisis to crisis which comes from the fact he simply doesn't sell enough models.

He really needs to either re-evaluate his business model and start making more stuff people will buy or find a different trade, I think.

After the last in-depth post on how he runs his business, I can't help but feel the same way.
