That does upset me tho. All my cool looking custom Tervigons are now not legal b/c you didn't give me a model and I had to make my own. Now they are worthless. Thanks GW!

Not worthless, just pretend your custom model has the same dimensions as the stock GW model and Profit.

I have people who have had a problem with that since there is an official model and I do own it so I stopped getting hassled and just shelved them ;(

FAQ wrote:
Q: Does a squad disembarking from a drop pod, or mycetic spore, count as arriving from reserve for Inquisitor Coteaz's I've been Expecting You fired? (pg 44)
A: Yes. This means that Inquisitor Coteaz and his unit will be able to fire once at each unit.
Since both drop pods and mycetic spores would need to "open" for the occupants to disembark, I'd say that you can't really block LoS with them. Cover save, sure. But just because someone models their drop pod or whatever not to have open doors doesn't mean the doors aren't opened when it lands. Doing so would be widely considered modeling for advantage, as discussed previously in another thread. And the distinct lack of an official model for the mycetic spore would further support this, in my opinion.
The FAQ says you can shoot at them, so as far as the FAQ is concerned, neither a mystic spore, or drop pod should be considered to block LoS.
1) The FAQ supports what I said. Because 2 things are happening at the same time(the shooting from coteaz triggered by the arrival of the transport and the immediate disembark triggered by the arrival of the transport) and the order is important the player who's turn it is decides what order they happen in (page 9 btw)
IF that player says the shots vs the transport happen BEFORE the unit disembarks the vehicle may explore or be wrecked.
If the vehicle explores or is wrecked the unit will perform an unsual disembark (unless it dies in the explosion). This will still trigger the Coteaz shots vs this unit like the FAQ says.
IF the player says the shots vs the transport come AFTER the unit disembarks then Coteaz will have two triggered events that need to happen at the same time. In this case since all those events belong to the same player that player gets to decide the order. ( GK FAQ)
No matter what happens before the shot, if a model in coteaz's unit cannot get LoS to a model in the disembarked unit no shots can be resolved and are for-fit.
2) its actually very difficult to draw line of sight through a drop pod. The hatch's hing at a hight more then halfway up a marines chest, and the crap inside only leaves a vey small window. Based on the cover rules I'd have to give my targets a 3+ cover save if I tried to shoot through a drop pod and claimed I had LoS. You can't model for advantage a mystic spore. I could claim a spore the size of a football was my model. There is nothing official to disagree with me.

Besides, just because the pod opens up to let out its passengers, there is no reason why it would remain open an expose its soft, gooey insides to all that hostile fire. I wouldn't call that modeling for advantage.

Maybe as the bullets tear through the spore they will next hit the Doom. Make sure to take psybolt ammo for that extra oomph!
As to not modeling for advantage... w/e.

I'd say a 4+ cover save, certainly. Basically nothing in the game gives a 3+ cover save unless it specifically says so, if other threads on the topic are any indication(dripping with sarcasm). But let's not get sidetracked here. I agree with you on the main topic. They'd get a good cover save.
Though, this means that you'd have LoS. You don't NEED perfect LoS. As a matter of fact, the rules allow you to fire on a unit in which you can only see the hand of a single model. And in the case of the specific rule we're discussing, it would allow you to fire on the spore/drop pod first, possibly blowing it up, before firing on the disembarked unit.
There is no "first" with the deep strike and the disembark. Per the FAQ, they happen at the same time. The only thing that would need to be determined in order would be shooting order. And whoever owns the shooting unit(Coteaz, in this case) is the controlling player. The controlling player determines the firing order of his own units, even if it's your turn.
EDIT: Clarity.

I don't think you can create a parallel between a space marine drop pod and a mycetic spore. One is a vehicle, the other is a monstrous creature. They don't have to operate in the same way.
Additionally, YMDC is about the rules, not about what "real life logic" would dictate.

Yeah this discussion is straying a little far into logical debate, which when we're discussing a unit that can theoretically shoot a dozen times outside of his own shooting phase in a single turn is a little pointless.

Yes, the units arrive at the same time. Coteaz triggers and can fire at anything he can draw LoS to.
He can't draw LoS to the Doom when the ability triggers, and therefore can't shoot him.

Per the FAQ, that depends on how he disembarks, and what the model for the mycetic spore looks like. Which is why I was pointing out that without an official model, the mycetic spore could look like anything.
And to those discussing logical debate, much of this wouldn't be an issue if we had an official mycetic spore model, because then we'd know whether someone could legitimately use it to block line of sight.
But I digress. Without a legit official model to base arguments on, mycetic spore could theoretically block line of sight on a unit that disembarks from it.

So the argument that the ability triggers giving him shots at the pod can't PROVIDE him with the LOS to trigger the shots at the disembarking dudes I assume is debunked?

I got lost in your sentence. But per faq, His ability triggers after the unit has disembarked from the spore or pod.
Meaning both spore and the unit it is carrying are viable targets.
As betraytheworld said, depending on how the spore is modeled and where the unit is placed after disembark it is possible the unit will not be in LOS
