I'm going capcom. My favourite game franchise was street fighter. I loved that game. Then they 'improved' it in many ways - The last one I've kept was SF alpha 3 for PS1. I've not enjoyed a street fighter since. All button bashing and not much skill.
The final straw was Street fighter + Tekken. Any game where I can win with my back to the screen and just randomly hammering buttons is not a good game imo.

That and they think the problem is that they aren't capitalizing DLC. It's almost as if some companies think the internet is some mythical place where only fairies exist and nothing is real.

Sometimes people just need a good rant. And we're on the internet - ranting is part of the enjoyment.


I think I would have put EA as the worst because of the stupid stuff they've carried out with their recent games. But I would love to say Activision for a rather petty reason with a greater meaning (maybe) - I won't get to see a sequel to one of my favourite games because Activision are sitting on the license with fingers in their ears and CoD sequels flowing from their mouths.

I can tell you I enjoy Civ V, Supreme Commander, and Guild Wars 2. I don't only hate games and I honestly hope the companies I don't like can pull it together. The sad thing is I don't see that happening and these guys who have tons of potential with their IPs will fall and die.

i now hate you. I used to be a fan of DLCs, but haven't found many DLCs that weren't outright cash-grabs for fixing the deficiencies of a game. *cough*dawn of war *cough* Space marine *cough*

Knife of Dunwall looks good.

Though now that I think about DLC...Eaoware (read: Iago-ware) basically stole the the Shale DLC from me; so I may need to push my vote that way. Capcom still wins in terms of stupidity though.

It's even better when you consider that a large part of the reason that they're killing Megaman is just to spite his creator.

For what it's worth, Monster Hunter is absurdly popular in Japan. For some reason, Capcom just doesn't want to do anything to even attempt to replicate the success it had in Japan. All the advertising that Tri ever got was because of Nintendo, not Capcom.

They're just filled with bad publishing decisions. Their original sale projections for Dragon's Dogma was around 5 million copies. They sold 1 million. Capcom expects everything they make to be the next Call of Duty, and it's ridiculous. And now they've turned what was originally a fantastic looking $20 DLC package into an exclusively $40 full packaged re-release of the game to milk more money from the fans. As someone who greatly enjoyed DD (even if you didn't like the game, it's ambitious design and ability to take risks make it a beacon of light for high-budget game development in today's current sea of rehashed filth), I'm at a difficult impasse: On one hand, do I buy the game to support the niche title and its developers, and to encourage the development of further games in the series, or do I stick it to Capcom and not touch it at all?


I think it's worth noting that, when making decisions about the "Worst Company in Gaming," it's not about who makes bad games. At least, not entirely. Every publisher/developer is bound to release a stinker at some point. Hell, that's all that some companies are good for. But it's about damage done to the industry as a whole. Companies like Capcom make some really good games, but their treatment of their customers, and the industry as a whole, is abysmal, and they're part of the greed-filled engine, along with other giants like Square Enix, EA, Activision, and Ubisoft, that is running the entire industry into the ground.

At least they didn't pull of something like Ubisoft and say it's simply because you stole their DLC.

EA will always be the Empire of Evil to me, sure they don't out right despise the consumer, but their policies and the way they destroy talented studios, sucking them and their IP dry like some nightmarish talent/intelligence vampire who then goes on to cock slap the consumer with restrictive DRM, day one DLC and other policies designed to wring the most money out of the most people, and then punish them for being loyal customers. I've played both, and I preferred the character design and gameplay of Warcraft 3 over
Warlords. Rolling "unique characters" meant stacking a bunch of stats and abilities,
whereas WoW had some thought into its skill tree and progression. The
character design in Warcraft 3is what makes League of Legends work (which I
guess is stating the obvious)

For me without a doubt it is EA. The earlier days at the begining of the 2000s they just destroyed so many amazing developers. Their business strategy being:

1. Find a small developer with a successful IP.
2. Buy them and make them churn out as many games as possible milking the IP for all its worth.
3. Once they stop selling close down the studio and sell off the assests.

There is also a really great article titled "The Wife of an EA Developer" or something like that which gives a very horrible look at the inner workings of EA and how they treated their own employees. It was not long after that they started to fix their image.

I think the saddest thing is that for a while there EA actually started turning themselves around. They started giving the nod to a lot of new IP and not relying on sequels. Mass Effect, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge and others got released during this period. They also got into a legal battle with Activision over the ownership of Brutal Legend. Activision cancelled the project, EA picked it up and all of a sudden Activision wants their toys back.

Then we have a look at the last few years and EA has gone back to being the bad guys again. Dodgy DLC, always online BS, comments about all future games having microtransactions, heavy handed banning of people on their forums/origin service, etc.

EA was evil all the way back when they murdered ultima 7 serpent isle, but they have at least been constant about it

I had more fun playing my Blademaster Orc than my Warlords toon.

Stardock, I own two of their games and 1 is meh (sins of a solar empire) and 1 is atrocious (elemental).

Elemental would not have even been brought out in the 90's , it's gak and always was gak.

Then there are the Stardock fanboys,singing praises about elemental, stardock and FFS the stardock version of steam (they seem the same to me).

If there is a company i will never buy a game off it is stardock.

While companies like EA and Activision are money grubbing jerks that pump out stale iterations of the same game and try to bleed you dry with DLC, it all just seems very "corporate". Sure it's greedy, but Capcom seems to do what it does to spite its consumers.

I'm voting Capcom because while there are plenty of bad, greedy companies Capcom seems to want to harass their customers almost.

Capcom's a decent point, I like the Yahtzee theory that Sonic team in particular Hate Sonic, and want to stop making Sonic games.

Paradox. The number of buggy messes with nonexistent post-release support...

Sometimes they end up releasing good games (because they take risks other publishers wouldn't?) but you better hope it's good when it's shipped, and odds are high it won't be because their QA is seemingly nonexistent. Magicka and SotS 2 are examples that spring to mind. A while back I was amazed to find that Magicka's multiplayer still has bad bugs in it that date back to release (and which I assume are still there) and SotS 2 should need no introduction.

EA is clearly the Emperor Palpatine of game publishers. I hate them for every franchise they ruin. The most painful being C&C.

I would say capcom because of their abhorrent tendency to release the same game a thousand times,

I would say Blizzard because they've become lazy.

But no, my vote falls squarely on EA. Terribly business practices, origin, the list goes on and on. If EA would crash and burn I would shed not a single tear.

Problem is, it would bring down so many other companies and leave a massive void...

Blizzard has terrible writing, expensive cut-scenes that lead to repetitive boring gameplay and think they can just live off their massive WoW income and fart out the same game with better cutscenes every 10 years

Also people who are saying Starcraft and Warcraft III are the best RTS games ever should actually go look at what RTS has the highest average reviews
