once you get into combat with him it is good as dead anyway.

The problem is, with GKs small model count, and small set of force weapons that can pen a 2+ save. You dont want a situation where only a few guys make it into combat, then need 6s to wound and need him to fail his 2+ save. You cant use hammerhand if you want to activate your force weapon.

A Dreadknight on the other hand can work just fine.

Dark Mechanicus and Renegade Iron Hand Dakka Blog
My Dark Mechanicus P&M Blog. Mostly Modeling as I paint very slowly. Lots of kitbashed conversions of marines and a few guard to make up a renegade Iron Hand chapter and Dark Mechanicus Allies. Bionics++

Pretty much every Grey Knight force weapon which can penetrate 2+ armor also doubles the strength of the user; so barring unusual shenanigans they should have little difficulty wounding a Riptide if they are able to engage it in close combat.

The trick is closing with a unit that can move as fast as the Riptide does before it's impressive large blast template and other weapons cut the squad to ribbons.

If he keeps going to ground i suggest anything that ignores cover. Denying cover is kinda the thing to go for this edition.

IG have the order that forces him to reroll successful cover saves. Take some Rocket Launchers/Autocannons ect. Mass them and go for taking down a squad a turn .

I am not 2 familiar with DA or GK ... but taking 2 dread knights and charging his infantry would probably work out the best. Give them flamers and the jump pack. For DA i would just get bikes and drive them into his soft tau targets.
