How do you know which one is the "laser guy"?

Whoops, I read Plasma as Laser for some reason. Dunno why (well their Plasma gunner looks quite like a lascannon I must say)

Good old Khurasan Minis is back! Nice to see that you're bringing us something new. I've only heard good things about you guys. Some of your other armies might be cool in 28mm as well.

I think this guy (Third from left) would be a pretty easy conversion to virtually any special weapon.

Once you get the hang of it, modding metal is pretty easy. Especially if you have a Dremel!

110mm is essentially the same size as the Chimera. 190mm is a good deal larger, more like nose to the end of the hull on a Valk, excluding the tail.

I'm glad he's not making 28mm Space Demons. I'd buy 100 of them*. I already own and have painted about 100 15mm Space Demons. I do like those models! I have 100s of Tyranids and SST Bugs though so I'm not lacking for bug hordes to mow down with Federal Army Awesomeness.

*I'm not kidding, I would buy that many if they were like the 15mm versions. I'm a sucker for that range.

Well, my APC just arrived. Holy Smokes! It is a HEAVY chunk of resin! Well, one really big chunk (hull/body) and several smaller (4 wheels, 1 big turret, one small turret and one side hatch). Some of the best cast resin I've seen too!

Damn glad I bought this. It is very cool!

I told Jon something similar to "I'm glad you're not doing 28mm Space Demons, even though I want them, because now I won't go broke".

Anyone who owns the Caiman APC, can you tell me the rough dimensions of it(HxWxL)? I placed an order with them for a project I'm working on and I need to know size so I can scale it to the dropship. I emailed them, but it is the weekend, so I doubt I'll get a response in the next day or so(I'm impatient, so what?! ).

If you're talking about the 28mm on their website says

The Caiman is approximately 190mm long

can't help with width or height

Should help as long as I scale the length correctly to the width. Height isn't really an issue if the other two are scaled correctly.

Turns out, the width is actually more important to figuring out the scale for this project. Oh well, I'll just have to wait for a reply to the email.

I guess we'd all better rush out and buy the heavy APC before the IP Lawyers find it.

A) I do not think that there are any issues with the Khurasan model. It is evocative of the APC in the Aliens movie, but quite different in many details. I do not think that it ventures close to copyright infringement.

B) While statements like your are amusing in some respects, given the use to which such statements on this very forum have been put by Games Workshop in the GW v CHS case, I think all forum uses should be mindful of the potential impact such statements can have.

Weeble,

I am not being facetious. I believe that the owners of the copyright in question have a valid case, here. But, we should not derail this thread. I'd be willing to discuss privately, if we want to see if we can thrash out a go/no-go on the issue.

lol, I'm never one to post such things(in fact never)and usually bite my tongue, but come on! While all very good models, they are clearly rip offs of existing ideas/models or at least been heavily influenced so much so that they ended up looking almost the same. Little thought has went into turning these out. " oh IG we'll change them slightly, oh star gate we'll make a fat glider, oh robocop2, no one has ever seen that movie we'll copy the crazy ass machine that goes nuts and kills a bunch of folks. and aliens APC, that's already been brought up.

It's lazy and unoriginal.

end rant, sorry for being slightly off topic but this stuff just twigged something in me. Prepares for torrent of abuse about how I'm wrong.

Good thing the Khurasan model doesn't look like that. Except having 2 arms, 2 legs and a gun.

You're right that there is no reason to discuss it in this thread. A separate thread specifically to discuss views on the possible legal issues surrounding the model is appropriate. That way the discussion is clearly not admissible evidence. My concern is that a federal judge in the 7th circuit appears to be interpreting such posts as yours, which may not seem to be lay interpretations of the law, as customer impressions about the appearance of the product in hand.

Now, as wildly erroneous as that may be, the fact is that such 'off hand' posts like your original post are just possibly ambiguous enough to make such an interpretation, leaving aside of course the impossibility of establishing that you are in any way an actual customer, not affiliated with the owner of the might-be-assertable copyright, and are actually making a spontaneous reaction completely disassociated with any other ongoing discussion.

In a thread with an appropriate title, even Judge Kennelly could not, I think, conceive of the discussion as admissible evidence.

I have posted this here, rather than in a PM to you, in order to further emphasize to any readers to take note of the potential implications of throwing out offhand comments in a product release thread.
