As a CSM player that runs a regular 2-3 between 1k and 1500 + I can happily say the Turkeys do their jobs fantastically when popping low priority Xports like Rhino's. Their job simply isn't to Pop them, it's to either deliver a final glance, or simply have something to pass over.

Many times my opponents will think "Putting my troops in their xports will save them cuz Turkey can't pop AV12-13 in one swoop!" Well, no it can't, but that's not what they're trying to do lol Your opponents will most likely run their CC troops up the board and try to get as close to you as possible, you taking turn 2 with your Drakes guarantee's your opponent had 2 turns to move his Xports up the board... Thats 36" Inches of movement at flat out if your opponent is trying to get into CC..

The simple fact you need to understand is that the VC provided by a Turkey is NOT meant to actually be anything but "Look good" And what I mean by that is this... When you take a HS slot of Havocs with ACs or LCs you're using them to fire on exactly those said things the Turkey most likely flies over... That Rino might have taken 2 glances from your ACs once it got into range, the VC just happened to finish it off.. In my experience I deal 2/3s of my hull point damage from other sources where strategic fly-overs with my Drakes give me the possible last glance.

As for the whole Rear armor problem, I solved this problem in the way I field my Drakes. Running them from corner along the board edge, then turning center once I hit my opponents table edge almost guarantee's he won't be able to position himself to face my rear armor. Once they have gotten off 2-3 rounds of bale flamers, fly them off your opponents table edge and come up the middle. By that time you should have dealt with what ever he had hiding behind his ADL or in his fortification, and and MEQ team with special weapons which was high priority for your Drakes, (Which you snuck around the board in order to get to) Should very well be dead and ashe.
