I'm not holding anyone to ridiculously high standards. I'm saying you shouldn't complain about an issue BEFORE you give the company a chance to fix it. When you do so, you are complaining about an incomplete incident. Give them the opportunity to fix the problems FIRST. Then, if you're still unhappy after the issue is resolved, complain away. Even if your feelings are neutral or positive... post the incident. Discuss what happened. Complain about what went wrong, Fine... but you're robbing yourself of an experience, the company of the chance to make things right, and your readers the benefit of seeing (a) what issues the company has suffered from and (b) the kind of service/resolution we can likely expect from them.
In the case of GW, Finecast is such an awful product and has such awful Quality Control that people are going to complain about it regardless. It's one thing if you get a poorly cast model, but it's something else when the replacement model is poorly cast, as well and/or when hundreds of people are getting those poor casts. That indicates more issues than JUST poor casting. That's not even touching on FC's issues as a material, either. At this point, I'm only talking about GW's seeming inability or unwillingness to stop poorly cast models from going out the door. Unless their "cost cutting" measures have gutted the department, they used to have actual quality control to stop errors from going out. It's why they ask you for batch #'s, etc. when you call in about a missing sprue or missing/miscast items ON a sprue.
In this case, the OP got a bad model. Instead of reaching out to the company FIRST, he came on here to complain. I maintain that it's bad form. FIRST, reach out to the "offending" company for resolution, THEN post your feelings.
Is it bad that the initially received item was a poor cast? Sure. I can't argue that... Well, I could. This is the internet. We argue about everything. LOL... but I won't, because I agree that it's bad to receive a poor cast. By not giving the company a chance to resolve it, though, you're not giving them the benefit of the whole picture. This p.o.v. goes for ANY retailer. Remove the CHS name and product from the OP and enter any company's name and product (Mantic, GW, WotC, PuppetsWar, KR Multicase, etc.) and my opinion is the same.
I don't see where that's such a bad opinion to have.

Here's my pair of trouble makers!
Have to say, the resin is a touch thin, but too much thicker and there would be balance issues. I don't think the kit is any better or worse to fit than I expected, its a third party, unofficial, item, and needed some finessing.
Of course, the OP may have a mis cast kit, but personally I just think it is just a bit tricky.
Totally worth the effort though, I continually get compliments on mine.

That's the CHS magnetised turret, with all the weapon options.
I built the first (right hand) one before I knew about it, but now have a second one, so they both can change.
Haven't got around to painting it up yet, as TLAC is one of my favourite turret choices.

I also have the kit (ordered three of them, but have only assembled one so far). Apart from some warping (which is common with resin anyway), I had no problems other than a small gap along the top, which is easily fixed. I do think the top and bottom panels could be a bit thicker, though. It really does make the model look so much better.

Many of you are requesting pictures so I took some. There still needs to be sanding and one stormraven only has the inside filled. I will put what your looking at under each pic. As I said before...in the end I am happy. Also the wings cover most of the bad spots. Again thank you chapter house for responding and offering to fix any problems. I did not follow up on that because I had the parts all glued and putties all over them. Sorry pic upside down. I will see if I can fix that when I get back home.
Gaps and bad angles on landing gear spots. See all the way through to the complete other side of stormraven, with other side attached.
The back hull does not fit flush to the sides.
Large gap now filled in between the 2 tops.
Bottom does not sit correctly. One side fits the other side does not.
Top does not sit correctly on sides. Spots near GW top are on top of chapter house. Spot at back chapterhouse top begins to not be flush.
Back GW does not fit top chapter house. It is supposed to fit "all inside" the chapter house top. I had to cut the sides off to make the back fit because it would not fit because of length of GW back and thickness of side walls etc. part broke when I was flashing...just so happens to be part of the part I removed later.
Other stormraven same prob with top and sides
Different stormraven same prob on back.

This is one of those times having a rotating monitor or standing on your head pays off lol. Yeap I gonna try to fix when home. I might be able to rotate them in gallery. I did not see upside down until I uploaded and had everything typed up etc. apologies.
****EDIT****. I don't see anything for me to flip the images in the gallery. The only picture that really needs to be upright is the very last one. I will redo that one when I can.
Happy in the end - just posted pics because so many people requested.

yeah, the kit may have some issues with the angles, I have two and I am very happy. i had to do some greenstuffing. it's a good price and it is a garage kit and in resin, expecting perfection is unreasonable and irrational for something on this level, omfg you had to do some modelling on a model. also it's a vehicle so it really isn't as a bad as having to restore an infantry model as you have generally flat surfaces. geez.
with the fine cast, i've never had a fail cast which wasn't riddled with issues. remember the guy who sent back something like 17 necron lords in a row? there isn't a failure rate of 10 in a 1000, like somebody said above, what complete crap. it's just degrees of fail. some are less worse but you'll never get one as well cast as the metal equiv or a model's metal predecessor. for a multi million pound multinational, gw makes pretty bad stuff in resin. the japanese gundam kits, even recasters do a better job by orders of magnitude. and gw knows full well, they're making the stuff. anybody who thinks they're unaware of the wholesale issues fail cast continues to have or saying it's resin and hand cast etc is delusional.

I wanna make it clear that I am happy with the end results of this kit, it just required more work than I thought. I expected to remove some flash cut some molds lines and glue. It's not a beginners kit is my opinion. my original post was a critique on the items I got. It does not mean all their products are bad etc. it just means that this is what I got, and wanted to give others a chance to chime in on their kits they have gotten and their review. So I could determine it was just a bad cast or if the extension just did not fit as expected. They have some nice stuff. This was the first time I have ordered from them.
Chapter house promptly got on this post and offered to fix whatever problems there was and I declined because its fixable and was pretty much fixed. From what I can tell they have good customer support. The only reason I can back and posted pictures is because I was asked multiple times. I'm not wanting to stir the pot on a product when in the end looks good. Just giving people some insight on what could be expected. I almost bought this kit 3 years ago when I was new to this hobby and I would have been royally frustrated and upset with all the things I fixed...because I did not have the know how's. I probably would have a really bad stormraven if I tried to fix it then.

Most resin kits need more work and filling, etc than mass produced polystyrene kits.
The problem is likely to be worse when you are fitting add-on parts to a kit that wasn't designed to accept them.
I think you could fit the bottom hull plate better if you take it off and use hot water to soften it to get to warp back to flat.
Resin will soften even in very hot tap water.

Yea I tried to fit it how you said and when I put it on correctly it threw the hull off square and really noticeable on the top. Like my op I ended up tossing the instructions out and "made" it work. Once it's sanded and a little more putty work it won't be noticeable. Nothing looked warped/bent so I did not need to do reshaping. It was actual edge angles. The biggest bugger was where the top sits on the GW back. There is a little notch that the GW sits in. It guides you to get it in the right spot. The top though was not long enough though on the ends to allow for the back to sit right, which is why I had to cut them out. Anyone that has seen this kit first hand might know what I am talking about.
