And thats why, in the future, the wiener legions will be the best fighters. If anyone is genetically made to fight low, its wiener dogs and basset hounds.

Well, at least these guys at the UN have watched enough Sci-Fi to know that eventually the Killer Robots will turn on their creators.

on the forum. Obviously

I find hilarious that they are condemning LARS.

This is a sad and confusing day for Germans and Scandinavians.

There is one problem with "robot wars", nobody dies.

War results in death and injury. There is a huge human cost in pain and suffering when it comes to war, a cost that remains long after the war is finished there will be wives (and husbands) without spouses, children without parents, parents without children, veterans without legs standing on the side of the streets asking for a dollar.

When there is no human price to war, what will be our deterrent to starting wars?

That's a really good point, thanks for the insight!

The deterrant could be civil damage...imagine a robot army invading another country, laying cities to waste. Robots do not know mercy and unlike real soldiers, they might just as well kill everything at sight, including executing old men, women, children, babies, disabled etc. All possible. It is a lot harder to make a human kill a baby on purpose than it is to just program a robot to do so.

On the plus side, robot wars might make biological weapons less attractive as robots would be immune to them.

It's a very difficult issue and based on very vague ideas...yet...but it's interesting.

So basically we're heading towards the form of warfare depicted in Supreme Commander? Where the only human in the army is the guy in the nigh impervious robot controlling everything while his mindless minions destroy everything in their way.

Sounds cool, though I think Koreans will likely become the new superpower due to the actions per minute of their rts gamers.

It would if they fought via battle tech arena fights!

As I said above...it might be worse. Order robot to kill, it kills. No morals. No regret. A bunch of sick children? Kill order, bang. A human might let them slip, happened in WWII too where Germans decided to not kill certain people or just "did not find them". But a robot? He shoots the child in the head without thinking twice. It might just crush its thorax to conserve ammo.

I dunno...I'm kinda looking forward to piloting a shark-dragon biomech that totes a chainsaw spewing gatling gun and comes with an expresso machine.

...

And that is why you should never, ever, let me create an anime. Or anything.

On topic, I'm not entirely keen on robot soldiers. The limiting of human casualties is nice, but there's always the nasty possibility that we build something that we can't decommission.
