This.Works for my codex boys as well, with sternguard and special ammo for when the obj is under threat. And 4 attacks on the charge if they are under pedro's bubble, for the assault phase, just to make sure they clear it.

The problem with sternguard in a LR is the lack of fire ports. So while you are inside, you just get to twiddle your thumbs. And you want to be shooting. If you just want a hop out and score units, toss some scouts in there. If you need to clear the objective, tank shock.
I think my next TFG 500 list is going to take a LR. HQ+ CC scouts in the LR, 5 sniper scouts in a ruin somewhere. The question is wether to take a chaplain for the charge of the scouts, or a MotF to fortify the snipers ruins and the "Nah, I fix that" if someone does manage to get a solid hit on the LR.

Apparently the overwhelming majority of the new variants came in after the Horus Heresy, so the Chaos Space Marines can't use them.

I agree, a few scouts or scouts/ CSM are a good investment for a land raider. You can also stick your captain/lord in there to cause some good counter assault as well.
Since the land raiders are so large, you can also use them as mobile cover to hide a squad of cultists/scouts/TACs behind as well.

There are PLENTY of clubs that allow FW simply for the fact of having more ability to work lists. The more variables the better, in some opinions...
I know I feel it allows more diversity of lists and gives people a more even playing ground in regards to the current flyer debacle of 6th Edition. Lists like old-Codex Tau and Eldar could actually bring a flyer or AA without bringing an ADL...which doesn't help versus flyer spam anyways.

2 TL lascannons are not mind-blowing but they are reliable. You can even shoot them at different targets if one enemy dies from the first one.
No you cannot, you are required to declare your shooting before the rolls are made.

A brief History of the Godhammer:
Back in the day, we had Land Raiders, aka "LR" or "Raider". Then along came the Leman Russ Battle Tank, which IG players also dubbed "LR". Not to long after that, the Crusader Land Raider varient was released, also know as an "LR". To prevent confusion, the 40k community began to call the original Land Raiders "Godhammers" versus the new Land Raiders "Crusaders", while dubbing them "GHLR" and "LRC", yet still calling them both "Raiders". In addition, we started the dub Russ's as "LRBT". All this was fine until GW release the Dark Eldar and their Raider, but that's another story. Somewhat later, GW assigned the name "Phobos-pattern" to the venerable Godhammer, sparking the whole "Godhammer" vs "Phobos" argument.
So, when people call them Godhammers, they are in fact using the oldest name for the original Land Raider pattarn. Also, this explains why some people grit their teeth everytime they see someone else call them "Phobos". And yes, GW is aware of the "Godhammer" naming convention, as they use to use the name too in older 2nd and 3rd edition publications.

Also it can move 6 and fire both lascannons. Great assault deterrent. Also since it can be bought in dedicated it opens up a heavy slot for more predators, if you so wanted.

As DA, I throw my command squad with the dakka banner in a godhammer. That way it can chill near the tacticals for the banner, and blast anything it wants with the lascannons. The 6" move lets it be just maneuverable enough to take away banner privledges to a squad if they want to move and still fire 24".
And when something gets close, the hatch pops open and the command squad flames and assaults, protecting the tacticals.
I could switch to a crusader for the bolters, but honestly I have a lot of anti-infantry already with the banner. The twin-linked lascannons are just so good to pass up.
