It's made quite clear in the book, that the C'tan simply provided the knowledge of bio-transference. It was Szeras who turned this knowledge into application. So, the Necrons do know how Bio-transference works.

Must have missed that bit. But still; I can't exactly see the C'Tan giving the Necrontyr all the details.
