Good Ol' Texas

You could have spent those extra points on a Sniper Scout Squad. Kills MCs, can snipe out characters and other important models, and also adds to the the total model count. Ditch the JP on the DC if they are in the raven, it wastes points and transport capacity. Lemartes is good, but not amazing. Get a cheapo Reclusiarch and see if you can round up all the extra points and get a Fragnought, which is known to reduce grown men to large puddles of tears.

Look, there's going to be a lot of disagreement in the BA ranks because frankly we have no "good" builds. We have a bunch of mediocre builds that are okay for tailoring to a given opponent, but for TAC purposes, the BA stink. There's no getting around that.

The cardinal sin of 6th edition is being overcosted and the BA have this problem in spades. The DC pay *15* pts for a bloody jump pack!

The BA box just isn't big enough to be thought out of. Any scheme we devise will, in general, be shot up or drowned in bodies.

If you want specifics, your proposed list, as constructed, does not have enough models on the table to weather the storm from a well-built IG or Necron list at 2K. If the DC are late by even a single turn, you are looking at a turn *4* assault. That's way too late. I've practically tabled and in turn been tabled by turn 3.

Likewise, because so many points are tied up in the flying coffin that is the Stormraven, you don't have enough shooting in your main army. If you really want DC, use a LRC or LRGH, so they are available for turn 1 assault if necessary. The Stormraven can never be used as a transport with the rules as they currently exist. Not if you want to have a robust BA list.

@Lucarikx I love my sniper scouts but they never seem to do much...It's definitely more bodies on the table though.

@Martel the overcosted thing is a big deal but the fact that 6th is anti cc is the killer. I find myself wishing someone from GW would playtest BA against just about anyone and see just how bad they are...unless you are rolling like a god you are almost always at the disadvantage.

I love my LRC but it never kills its point cost and overwatch tends to hurt whatever emerges from it which is why I stopped using it. What do you think about pointing up like 6 DC with bolters and 5 with power swords?

I still want to use my DC dread because if anything it draws most of the fire...nobody wants that running rampant through their lines. I like the Furioso with 13FA but I love that the DC dread has fleet because nothing is more annoying than rolling a 3 to assault when you need 4 or 5 and it seems to happen way to often.

I have to use a Stormraven somehow because I play a lot of chaos players running 2 Helldrakes and if all I'm running is my Aegis they are dead before they knock 1 out of the sky. Only other thing I could come up with was 2 or 3 Baal's with TL ACs and trying to get behind the Drakes to snap it to death.

Makes me want to retire my BA until new codex comes out...supposedly this time next year...and maybe pick up Tau or Grey Knights.

Some Tomb World in some galaxy by that one thing in that one place (or Minnesota for nosy people)

Don't give into the fish people or the wardians. For the meantime I would just run your army as vanilla SM, or BT since they get SRs

Angelus, no one is saying to NOT use the Stormraven. They are simply saying to use it in games, but not to use it as a transport. I use my Stormraven without any units being transported all the time, it works perfectly fine.

And as always, this is a forum for getting input. It's not an end all, and you can disregard anything anyone says. Now that you have clarification on the rules for Skies of Blood, you can certainly just choose to reevaluate *how* you use the Stormraven(and by god, if you need anti-flyer you need a Stormraven). If you like Corbulo and have a good use for him, take him. If you dislike any advice, feel free to ignore it.

Has anyone ever run a Dante + full Sang Guard army with a little mech? How does that play?

I just played Dante in a game last night actually. Since 6E, he has become pretty bad. His high initiative was absolutly crushed since his Axe makes him I1.

The sang gaurd are pretty brutal now with their 2+ armour and only being vulnerable to AP 1 and 2 . Give them a priest for FNP and they will walk through Power Armour. Just dont throw them at a chaos juggerlord......whoops.

My lists usually have a good amount of plasma/melta, and this just tears sanguinary guard to pieces. It doesn't take many AP 2 wounds to cripple a sanguinary guard squad.

And Dante is just a bigger loser than he was in 5th, which is pretty big. This is mainly due to the fact that marine captains arent' very good, and he is super expensive and just doesn't add that much.

Baal

Here is a list that might fit with your current style of play, includes DC and Ravens:

HQ:
Libby with Divination powers (goes with DC)

Elite:
Chappy w/ PF (goes with DC)

Troop:
DC x10, PW x3
LRC/ MM

ASM x10 w/ 2x flamers, PW/MB

ASM x10 w/ 2x Meltaguns, PW

FA:
Baal Pred w/ AC, HB

Baal Pred w/ AC, HB

Baal Pred w/ AC, HB

Heavy:
SR w/ AC, MM, BSM

SR w/ AC, MM, BSM

2K on the nose.

So Libby and Chappy go with DC in LRC. Chappy and DC bail out and beat face on some poor unit. Libby stays in LRC and denies Slay the Warlord as long as possible while casting what ever powers he can on the LRC (hoping for the 4++). SR's run around and kill Flame chickens etc. Baal Preds throw 30 shots at stuff. Kinda a glass hammer of a list, but lots of dakka, AA, and has your DC to boot. You could always drop a Baal and get your DC Dread or a Fragnought in DP (finding points in a few other places.....). Just a suggestion.

There's no reason the above list can't do pretty well, as long as you protect the ASM for scoring.
