The models have heavy weapons so if they move they can only snap fire. If a vehicle moces more than 6" they can only snap fire reguardless of weapons.

For just 50 points Big Squiggoth would make a perfect firing platform. Open topped, carries ten models, but its not a vehicle so it can't explode and no crappy side/rear armour to worry about. Put it behind a ruin or an aegis or whatever to give it cover (its an MC so area terrain won't cut it) and your dudes have four T6 Armour 4+ (plus cover) wounds between them and the enermy. When it dies, the Lootas just pile out into the area terrain or aegis at its feet and continue being hard as nails.

I thought the Big Squiggoth's armor save is 5+?

It's 4+ in IAA 2nd Ed. I'm looking at it right now.

Please don't hold it against me for asking a question that seems like common knowledge. I haven't played since 4th ed. Why would a unit firing from a vehicle only be able to fire snap shots if the vehicle has moved? it's not as if the unit moved. I tried to find it in the rule book and I didn't see any mention of firing from vehicles.

Pretty sure it says that under transports somewhere. Just think, the vehicle is bouncing around on rough terrain, of course their shots are gonna suck

The "shooting from battlewagon with loota's" concept has a great element of surprise! I'am working on the following armylist for the dutch grand tournament (allows forgeworld)

HQ: Mek with KFF
HQ: Warboss with mega-armour and stuff

Troops: 10 grotz + runtherd
Troops: 10 grotz + runtherd

Elite: 5 Loota's including 3 meks with big shoota's
Elite: 10 loota's
Elite: 10 loota's

Heavy support: Battlewagon with extra armour and 2 big shoota's
Heavy support: Battlewagon with extra armour and 2 big shoota's
Heavy support: Lifta droppa forgeworld) with extra armour and 2 big shoota's

Fast attack: Dakkajet
Fast attack: 3x Grot Bombers (Forgeworld)

Imperial guard allies

HQ: Company Command squad + officer of the fleet

Troops: Platoon command squad
Troops: Infantry squad
Troops: Infantry squad

Fast attack: Vendetta

Still got sum points left for guard weapons....

Lifta droppa goes in the middle with Big mek and 5 loota's/meks
Left Battlewagon got 10 loota's and warboss
Right Battlewagon got 10 loota's

All wagons got 5+ coversave and start shooting! Big mek and meks can repair any bad 'lifta droppa' results and the meks can also shoot with the big shoota's (precision shots) If sumthing gets close then I still got a warboss with 10 loota's that can shoot and assault.

You have to keep those battlewagons back to prevent any shooting to the side armor. After turn 4 its time to go forward and finish off the last enemy units.

Load that PCS up with flamers and put them in the detta. Add in some Sabre Guns with any left over points and you have a nice shooty list

I tried it a couple of times, and while it does work a lot better than in 5th, I wasn't exactly amazed by it.

The main problem really is that lootaz don't gain much from the battlewagon:
- Since they now have option to move and snap-fire anyways, there are lot less situations where they can't find a target to turn into swiss cheese while on foot.
- They do take a few less wounds from shooting, but then instantly lose half the unit from the explosion. Battlewagon only tend to get wrecked if your opponent has very unlucky dice, or is assaulting the wagon with S4 models - and for the later one, try saying "overwatch with 15 deffgunz" without drooling. For every wrecked battlewagon in 6th, I've had eight turn into a crater and two survive the game still functional.
- Sure, you could give them a MA IC and drive them around without losing BS. Or you could just given the MA IC and use them as shootaboyz, running wherever they damn please, and take 2+ armor saves for anything that attempts to shoot lootaz besides lascannons. I'd argue that having lascannons shoot at lootaz is a good thing for you, especially if there are MANz somewhere on the field.
- They are using a battlewagon that could also be used by more boyz. Since S4 explosions have made battlewagons moving deathtraps, you need a lot more troops to actually win objectives. Due to the massive nerf to multi-assaults and the rise of fliers "screw objectives, just kill everything" is no longer a viable tactic for orks.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

You mean Grot Bomms? Or is this something else... something fantastic?

I second, third and forth this.

While it's an allright option, I don't know why anyone would take it over the burnaboys option. Burnaboys can shoot all their templates out of one window, to utterly roast anything, they don't have to roll to hit so moving isn't as much of an issue, and if they get blown up and into combat, they can use their flamers as power weapons in a pinch, and usually can overwatch anything that charges them to death anyway. So yeah, battlewagon, deffrolla, as many burnaboy's as you can with a big mek with forcefield. x3 if possible. Boom xD

I prefer Burnas in Trukks, since Dread Mob can simply give them the damn thing without needing to take a useless mob of 12 boys. Speed and ramshackle > "armour" 14 anyday IMO
