Well, our new member Dave brought in a mock-up of one shoulder gun. He made one a gatling gun and the other was a rack of missles. Ted took the head home and added the details. We hade model pipes and a fuel drum from a model train store. He also used a filter-some parts from the Pegasus kits, and bits of plasticard.
Now it was time to start some painting. The colors were easy-it's for Da Goff Rockerz so it had to be black, red, and white. We had been checking out some weathering methods, and using salt looked like something that would work well on such a large model. The feet were not very visable when under the model, so we figured that would be the best place to start. I started by baseing with black primmer. Then I used a silver spray paint. Over this I airbrushed brown, blue, and yellow inks, and sealed it with a clear coat. Then using the air brush I misted water onto the model and sprinkled the salt on. When this dried I used the air brush to spray on black. I just want to say a couple things here: When adding the salt don't go light-you can't use too much, and if you do you can paint the bare spots. If you don't use enough it won't rub off and you will just have a solid black area. Also make sure the salt is dry before you start painting, and use light layers of paint so it dries fast and doesn't saturate the salt, which will also make the salt not rub off. I used a hair dryer to make the paint dry even faster. After the paint was on, we brushed the riveted strips Bolt Gun and added rust with some ink and paint washes.

This is what it looked like with most of the detail work done. Besides the washes we used on the feet , I made one out of thinner, burnt umber oil paint and weathering powder. I used this on larger areas and places I wanted to be able to manipulate the color.

for the most part, that is how we made a Great Gargant. The next thing was to make a table. I took some 3/4" pressboard and made a box 4' X 6' ( what do you know, I have yet another game table!). Then I rimmed the whole thing in steel that I rusted with salt water. We built a pile of garbage at the back to look like the leftovers from building Orkgasmatron. Lastly, I painted the Glyphs for our armies on the sides. And here he is all done, and set up at Adepticon.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I will post how we did at Adepticon soon with a link to the albums for anyone intrested. Until then here is the video that was playing above the band, enjoy!

When we arrived at Adepticon and set up, there was a ton of positive feedback. The judging for theme and apperance went well and we got ready to play some games. During the tournament they announced that they would invite the top 10 teams for theme and apperance to set up after the games were done for a showcase, and we were one of the teams. If you did set up for the showcase, you would be judged by 10 celebrities of the 40K community, and could earn up to ten more points. Here are some of the other armies in the showcase.

And that is why you hear people yelling FOR THE EMPEROR rather than FOR LOGICAL AND QUANTIFIABLE BASED DECISIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE MAJORITY!

This is one of the greatest threads I've ever seen in my life. I'm inspired beyond measure! You guys really went above and beyond, to have a video!
"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"
I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.
