Monoliths used to explicitly have a rule to prevent deep strike mishaps. They no longer have this rule, but skimmers have always had the rule about ending over other models and being moved.

Monoliths mishap. Sorry, guys.

I think the Monolith would be much better/ more balanced/ fluffier if its 4 turrets had Skyfire/Interceptor.

Monoliths should just dominate they area. Also the Apoc rules of Monolith formations should have made it to the codex. The. Taking 2 or three would be a great defensive/offensive mobile fortress.

and tau should never have lost st10 railguns on broadsides... even if the points went up dramatically, like to 120 per model

TBH, having the Railguns on suits as a lower Strength (8-9), over 10, when it's half the size of the Railgun on the Hammerhead makes perfect sense - I was doing the same thing in my Tau Fandex before the new codex came out.

Also, Longstrike in a Hammerhead with a Railgun is basically the end to all your AV14 woes.

And thanks, It's pretty spiffy as it is, imagine what it'll look like when I get round to painting the bloody things!

I've found my only issue when I field Monoliths is that they're too damn slow. I get that they're enormous floating . . . monoliths, but they are just too cumbersome to use effectively when so many foes can rape it from seriously far away. It's basically good to DS with, and then hopefully get its job done in that turn or the next one. Not to call it a throwaway because it's too expensive for that, but I've found that if the enemy is any good, that Monolith becomes priority one and it doesn't last long after DSing.

In terms of its power, it's always worked well for me. I've sucked whole squads into oblivion and wiped out entire troupes of Crisis suits. I'm sure compared to other units from other armies it is mid-range, but in my experience it's been a good unit to field.

As stated before me, there are better options, but its still good for it's points. If you like it, that's more valuable than points
