It might be feasible by leading the assault with conscripts, and using the point-savings on more power weapons and weapon teams.

Another possibility is to lead the march with armoured sentinels that either provide a moderately touch AV 12, or at least a 5+ cover save for weapons firing past them at the guardsmen (and help protect against assaults).

The third option is to also have a few basilisks behind the foot-slogging guard, to force the enemy to come to you (which certainly makes up for their slow speed).

This is not a "Foot guard list". This is a SW MEQ list with one ally blob. It is similar with the another Kopatch list. Khaan, Librarian, Thunderfires, Storm talons + two blobs. These are marine lists with a blob in them, but marines are primary force here. You can not build those lists with IG as primary detachment...

Aggro swarm can work at a casual/pickup game level with the help of DA Azzy 4++ blobbs, SoB FnP blobbs, and even SW cover save storm blobbs but in a tournament setting it is not used to aggressively push forward as templates of any kind will just remove you.


And then you encounter enemy death star or tarpit unit, which will lock you for a few turns...which is basicaly a game lost due to the high cost of your unit (540 is Azrael blob with melta bombs) and the fact, that meanwhile the rest of your army is obliterated (in worst case) or can not attack the enemy (more casual case). Happened to me with Azrael blob.

I am putting together a list that incorporates a 50-man IG blob. The IG are allied to a Sisters force.The list can be found here:

The blob is joined by Saint Celestine and Uriah Jacobus, who combined give the blob the following benefits: FNP, fearless, +1 Attack all the time, Re-roll misses to hit on the charge.
As Warlord, Celestine has a great chance to get one of the following warlord personal traits to bolster the unit's effectiveness even more: Furious Charge / Outflank / Legendary Fighter
The blob also has 5 Sergeants, each with power axes (+1 Str and AP2) and meltabombs. On the charge the Sgts get 5 attacks each at Str4 and AP2 which can be re-rolled
Celestine gets 7 WS7 attacks on the charge with re-rolls to misses.
The blob also has 5 flamers attached, in addition to Celestine's heavy flamer.
The blob is supported by a PCS which give the unit FRFSRF.
The blob is also supported by a Seraphim unit and a Sisters melta unit.

Although it's just one blob, with the attached characters and the supporting cast (see the list) I think this could be a viable / aggressive footguard list.
