Then you better start articulating what exactly you found so offensive on Obama's speech. Why should he not address the racism issue?
We have a case of one idiot who had a gun that followed another idiot who wanted to be a gansta and had used drugs to the point his liver and brain were damaged making him subject to violent outbursts. The gansta wannabe idiot jumped the gun wielding idiot and took a bullet.
Are you serious? Some traces of marijuana, that stuff really makes people violent psychos! If Martin was high it would have made him want to give Zimmerman a hug at most!
I guess you didn't catch the autopsy report that said his brain and liver had signs of damage consitant with someone who consumes a ghetto drink called Lean, or Purple Drank, regularly. It's made in a variety of ways consisting of sprite, energy drinks, iced tea, etc., skittles, Jolly Ranchers, or some similar candy, and heavy doses of Codine. Once again, you prove clueless.

A little more on it. I don't feel like spoon feeding you since it goes over your head but this talks some about Martin having Lean.

Well, there is an easy answer to that question. The story you noted wasn't the source of months of controversy.

Also, you didn't even watch the speech before posting it here and damning it, at least I hope you didn't or you somehow utterly failed to hear him talking about the violence young black men are surrounded by, perhaps you were deafened by the drumming of your temple vein on seeing the great satan Obama...
He couldn't get through a quarter hour without throwing in his poor victim me remarks. If someone bakes a great cake, but puts gak at it's center, no one with a thought in their head about his baking habits will eat it.
When did he 'play the victim'? I did hear him, fairly early on, acknowledge that he understands the preconceived attitudes towards young black men, such as the tightening the grip on the handbag or wariness, as he has himself experienced it. I think that was to qualify him before he spoke on what the black community might be thinking, as a black man.
I might have told him, if I were there, that as a young white man, I too experienced that sort of thing and was mindful to not walk behind a woman at night or cross over the road to put distance between me and someone vulnerable, a woman or elderly man, for example, to ensure I didn't frighten them. At no time in my British white youth did I live in fear of being followed and shot, and I certainly crossed through private property all the time for short cuts.
The President talked about the issue because it's being covered on every channel on television, because it raises wider issues over certain laws, racial profiling, vigilantism, the fairness of the judicial system and whether you are entitled to stop and confront someone who's following you around, despite the fact the person following you was told by the police to stop following you and that that person can shoot you dead and walk free, despite you being an unarmed child... People are angry or confused about the outcome of this case across the nation, of course the President should speak on it. Automatically Appended Next Post: Relapse wrote:

I enjoyed a variety of drugs over the course of my youth, taking them in no way entitles you to shoot me dead.

It would have helped if he kept his mout shut at the start of the trial, instead of trying to make Martin seem like an innocent victim.
You can enjoy all the drugs you want as long as you don't go berserk on someone due their effects on your brain.

He didn't though, did he, he confronted a man who was stalking him.
I'd confront a man that was stalking me, I might do it sober or walking home from the pub, either way I don't deserve to be shot dead for it, do I?
The man called the police to let them know he was stalking this kid, THEY TOLD HIM TO STOP AND GO HOME. He ignored the police and continued to follow the young man, who confronted him. I would have done exactly as Martin did if some oddball was sneaking about behind me.
He didn't 'go berserk', he challenged his stalker, unarmed... His stalker then shot him to death.
If you follow me around, I'll challenge you, I don't deserve to die for that, do you not get that?!? Martin might deserve to die for unleashing a dirty bomb in a city, being a baby murderer or a sadistic rapist, but acting like any red blooded male would and challenging a man who's following you around? No, No Effing Way does that justify a boy being buried by his parents.

None of us do.
I would also confront someone who I perceived as stalking me, but I would be reluctant to engage in a physical altercation because:
A: Fighting hurts, even if you win.

The medical examiner described Zimmerman's injuries as 'very insignificant' and 'consistant with one strike'. Hardly 'beaten into the sidewalk'...

Yeah, police investigator Dale Gilbreath also said that the head slamming story was not consistent with the evidence found.
Also, if Martin's drug use matters, why doesn't it matter that Zimmerman was on mind altering prescription drugs? At the time of the shooting he was on Temazepam, a drug that can cause aggressiveness and hallucinations, as well as on Adderall, which is known to cause worsening mental or mood problems (ie. aggression, anxiety, delusions, depression, hallucination and hostility).

Like I said, it was one idiot after another. I could give two gaks about either guy in this case. What I hate is all the race baiting that has gone on and the portrayal of Martin as just some mother's little angel by most of the media and Obama as well as the unusual lengths gone to by this government to convict Zimmerman.

I'm sorry, what unusual lengths? You mean the unnecessary federal case that isn't going ahead? The ridiculously over-qualified prosecutors Obama personally paid for out of his own pocket in order to ensure that Zimmerman was convicted, who made a hash of the case? The near instantaneous reaction to the original incident that only took 45 days for Zimmerman, a man who shot and killed someone in a public place, to be re-arrested, which only occurred after massive public pressure for the incident to be fully investigated?
They really are going to unnecessary lengths to try and convict this guy aren't they!

Opening up a tip line at the behest of the DOJ after the verdict came in? Obama running his mouth about what a good boy Martin was?
If you want a real victim who was a class act after the jury let his assailants go practicaly scott free, here is a link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Reginald_Denny
It's been said earlier that Obama had to say something because this was a national controversy, but I don't recall Clinton condemming the Denny attack. The media is all over Zimmerman, but I remember the Denny trial and they were talking about the wonderful mother of one of the defendants and posting her wittisisms during her thug son's trial and nowhere exibiting near the level of vitriol they have with Zimmerman.

Relapse: everything you bitch about is exactly the opposite that is going on.
"Obama is going to make sure Zimmerman gets convicted of something!" Yes, that's why he gave a speech saying that the justice system did their thing and it is done.
"Everybody will riot". They didn't and here is a president that also reminds people to keep it that way.
"Playing the race card." He really didn't. While he acknowledged that there are still problems he also talked about things getting better.
Maybe if you could force yourself to actually listen to the speech, instead of just reading about why you should be pissed about it , you would realize that.
And nobody is saying anything new about the damn trial. If everybody that is regurgitating the same arguments wants to go to the locked thread and have a circle jerk there then to ahead. But the MODs have made it clear that there was nothing new to that discussion when they locked it.

I think you're right about the arguments going round and round because, in my mind, both sifes are equaly convinced about their side and can answer each other with points they think are reasonable but the other thinks don't stand up.
As I've said throughout, I think Zimmerman used extremely poor judgement and was acting like an idiot, but Martin was no innocent victim.
Perhaps the best thing is for all to agree to disagree.

It just irritates me I am constantly hearing 'well he emulated gangstas' and 'he did drugs' or 'he was a truant and had an attitude' as though those things justify shooting a young man dead.
Many of us were prime spankers in our youth, I was full of attitude and certainly did many illegal things, none of which would have justified the taking of my life by a vigilante. This was precisely what Obama said, we were young men once, we erred and then grew up and grew (mostly) out of those things. This lad will never have that chance and was instead held to trial at the supposed trial of his murderer.

I think d-usa is talking sense about this becoming a circle jerk since you can say Zimmerman was looking to kill someone that night and I can say that Martin attacked him and was seen by witnesses to be doing a ground and pound on Zimmerman while declaring he was going to kill him.
I don't think we'll really get anywhere. You have your opinion on this and I have mine.

Damn people....we just locked tis thread or we starting all over again? Prosecution failed to present their case, jurors must be racist because they found Z not guilty. Z must be guilty regardless of what the juror says because DoJ now looking to hammer Z with a civil right violation no matter how minor it is. Obama fanning the fire on this issue....
DoJ not investigating the IRS?
We have bigger national and overseas issues then Z trial verdict.
We've enough problems in America that's way more important then contradicting a jurors verdict.

Considering you took took two sentences out of context from a seventeen minute speech, I'd say you are missing a lot.
