If people played
40k for fun they wouldn't be making power gaming lists.
If assaulting armies are winning tourneyments with 6th ed I'd like to know what they are doing. This way I can try to mold my armies that are assault based into something that can win games.
Everyone plays
40k for fun, in one way or another. But fun means different things to different people and comes from different things. For some its winning (at tournaments or not). For others, its having a close fought game. For others its the story.
The thing is, a game is never going to be fun if you dont get a chance to actually play, which seems to be whats happened here when you got blown off the table by Tau.
Tau can still be beaten, it just takes some thought and experience of their new capabilities.
And youre right, most armies arent as brutal in anti-assault as the Tau.
If you really dont like them, then dont play against them. Noone can force you to.
With regards to your Nids, make them shooty. Nids are supprisingly shooty. We have dual
TL Devourer Flyrants, dual
TL devourer Fex's in spores, the doom, Zoans, Hive guard, outflanking/spore devilgants, Deathspitter Warriors. Lots of things.
Im currently running a list that inlcudes 2 Primes with 6 warriors each (all with Death spitters), 2 podded
TL Devourer Fex's, Deathleaper, the Doom and 2 squads of Ymgarls. Its a lot of fun when it works (which is only sometimes!). Many of these arent common choices. So any unit/army can be made to work if you put some thought into it.
