I can confirm that Gravesend Gamers Guild is solid, I stopped going because it was too far for me to travel.....

Good club though

How did you get on at Bexley? I see on the FB page that you were going back again, must be a good sign!

Still finishing an army and I'm going to learn some rules before visiting either DS or BR. Wouldn't be fair for me to know absolutely nothing about the game when coming down.

The place is nice and I love the terrain variety, the person I played was polite but sadly it wasn't the type of 40k I enjoyed playing (competition vs fluff list), I was also unexpectly tired and my reactions were not standard. But there's a lot of players there my luck may improve

Let me know when you come and I happily give you a tutorial game. Did you have any models to use, I can let you borrow mine for a game for 1000 vs 1000 points

Thanks for the offer. It might take me a few weeks still to get myself sorted before coming down. I think the guys who run it said some 200pt games might be a good introduction.

In any event I'll give you a shout when I can finally make it and maybe take you up on the 1000pt game some time soon. Some of my armies have been locked away for 15 years without even seeing a battle. My more recent efforts are also worthy of being used after all the effort I've put into getting my full DV box painted.

I dont want to sound rude, but you've gone to lots of clubs and seem to find faults with the players at each one. Have you ever considered that you personally may be the problem, not the other players? Have you thought how you may come across, because ultimately gaming is a hobby which many people play who perhaps have very different social abilities. You are going to groups which are often close knit, and expecting to find the 'the group' instantly. Reading your summaries, I found myself wondering whether you yourself were to blame for the way your opponents acted and perhaps you should ask if you need to change.

Whether or not you're right, the OP is certainly talking pants about Dark Sphere.

My son's been going there for months - he's 12, and the guys there are sweethearts, they don't patronise him by pulling punches, but there's absolutely no WAAC mentality. They're also an intelligent, interesting bunch. So, for anyone reading this thread, it might be worth taking some or many of those opinions with a pinch of salt.

Opinions should be made by people themselves, just because one person doesn't feel they fit in or things aren't right for them doesn't mean it wont be like that for somebody else. None of the opinions given were wholeheatedly dreadful regarding any of the clubs (IMO) and I only got the general gist that the OP felt he didn't fit in.

I myself feel like bit of an outsider with this hobby. The people I've generally met into it aren't the type of person I would normally mix with or would have simila interests to me outside of the hobby. I'm going to give Bexley Reapers a chance as I've recently finished two other hobbies (football and radio) and am looking for something sociable that doesn't mean spending all my money in a pub.

Hivefleet - I totally agree with you. I was in Darksphere this morning, great store, good people and a nice atmosphere.
Similarly, my own local club is referred to here and doesnt get a good write up, despite it bearing no resemblance to the club I know and the people who frequent it. I dislike seeing a good club having its name blackened by someone who wasnt prepared to give it a proper go.

When I went Darksphere most of the trouble came from 1 grey knight player who I played against, he was was rude, miserable and a bad sportsmanship. I tried to speak to other folks (some 40k, some MtG players) but they didn't seem too interested in talking, and not all of them were playing (like if I was interuptting them). I felt a bit isolated and it has prevented me from returning, so I should not have judged the club on that one bad experience, and I'm certain by your words its a great place now. I'm trying to find a club unpreferred in London bounds, but if I ever look again I will give Darksphere nights another try.

Although I should not have posted my opinions, it was triggered just from a bad day and a couple were curious to know why I had troubles.
Pretty much spot on with Darksphere. I don't always get along with folks, but I try and play and sometimes it works. When I felt excluded at Darksphere I think it repelled me a bit since I felt like I didn't belong there.

"This should be interesting to know that you WERE the rude player I played against. I just checked some old messages and you were the same person I played against before, maybe a year ago"

Interesting Blackgaze - it would be impossible for us to have played a year ago for the very simple reason that I don't own any imperial guard, and also don't actually play WH40K. Indeed you actually messaged me after the event to say you'd played someone else. "I didn't have the best 40k player today, but I've had wors" is what you wrote.

Please delete your post and offer a full apology for slurring me otherwise I will report you to site admin. I've never met you, I've never played you and I resent you suggesting that I am someone I am not.

God this whole thread has been a nightmare, I only wanted to find additional clubs, not derail to this.

I did a terrible mistake of confusing your message for someone elses and I am sorry for this, I get easily rattled over things like this and jumped too quick over my only Clapham evidence. Whoever that person was is gone now and I regret ever playing him.
I've deleted my message and I suggest you delete yours, too (following this too) just to clear up the mess caused.
No need to bring the admins in this, deal with your own honest answers alone.

Anyone know of any clubs or groups in North London / Hetfordshire? Thinking of getting back into 40K (bought the new Eldar codex) but don't wanna start an army if there is no one to play with / against.

There's a games group based around Marque Models in Harlow and I'm pretty sure there is a club in Enfield but the name escapes me.

There's also the Tanelorn club but that might be a bit too East?

Another great one to look in to. Thanks! My closest one I think is in Borehamwood (Thor's Hammer). Hoping to find players late 20s onwards if I could choose!
