I've always thought it was very clear that vehicles can't contest. Scoring troops trump them. Every tourney sees it that way too, that I've been to

Well if the points go to the player controlling the objective, and you have a scoring vehicle from both sides capturing it; player A is controlling the objective, and gets the points, and Player B is also a player controlling the objective, so they get points to. OR, neither side is controlling the object, so neither player gets the points. For an individual game it's functionally identical, but it could matter in tournaments which rely on score, not just W/L/D to determine rankings. I'd say just ask the TO whether to add the points or not.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!"

It would only be the 'neither' option if they were denial units.

Both units are scoring, no denial units are in range, so both sides control the objective.

If Heavy Support Unit A moves within 3" and captures the objective on turn 2, and Heavy Support Unit B moves within 3" of it on turn 3, does he have the right to capture it as well?

Because if the objective is already under control, all a scoring unit can do is deny it, since it is contested. But, if the scoring unit can't deny it, shouldn't he also not be able to capture it because it's currently controlled? It is sort of a first come first capture situation, leaving the slow poke out of luck.

It's not on a first come first served basis, any scoring unit within 3" can claim the objective. Normally the two units would cancel each other out as most scoring units are also denial units, but in this case (BGNT, with two vehicles claiming the one objective), they'd both get the points for the objective.

This is where your thinking has fallen over. Scoring units don't contest objectives - they only control them. Likewise denial units don't control objectives - they can only contest them (unless they happen to be scoring as well, which isn't the case for this thread).
