It's worth pointing out that the chaos icon actually never worked with demons, only codex: chaos space marine units.

The plural of codex is codexes.

On Plague Marines . Your taking a nurgle lord anyway so they are troops all the time .

ahh what? its a poison CCW. and they are elites i thought the discussion was basic troop options? the fact that they can become troops is rather irrelevant, in 14000 pts of csm i have 1 unpainted 10 man unit of basic marines aaand that wont be changing.

I take a slaanesh lord and nurgle dp with the mace.
Tell me again how they are troops?

That makes no sense . If you want to play csm demon prince it is better to ally him and a helldrake in to a chaos demon army. A single FMC dies too fast and demon princes don't unlock plaguemarine as troops . Not taking a nurgle lord seems to be a stupid thing to do.

No idea why you need more then 2500 of chaos , but it looks like your having problems with adapting to a not only a new codex and a new edition , but also to the old codex codex. From what I have been told Chaos has been using plaguemarines since end of 4th ed .

It is very clearly a 5e trend that continued into 6e because people liked it.

QFT! And let's not forget about GK. The special-rules-for-troops codex. And yes, it is the codex released in 5th edition.

Good things are good,.. so it's good

Then I'm not really playing chaos space marines am I? Which means I have to buy a whole new army, at which point I could get something more competitive, like necron, Eldar or tau. If my main force is chaos demons, I can't ally in plague marines as troops regardless, or my noise marines

Noise marines aren't bad and are considered as viable as plague marines, especially with weapons that ignore toughness increases (plasma, melts, the new grav guns) being more popular. Against tau, I'd argue that noise marines are better, since the blast master out ranges a lot of their weapons, ignores cover, and can ID suits.

I've never had my shrouded dp die before turn 3, though I do start him in reserves so he comes in with my heldrakes and outflanking spawn (which I can't get with a nurgle lord). Put him against any MC from another dex, and on average, he crushes it.

Either way, just because you see the nurgle lord as auto take, doesn't change the fact the plague marines are found in the elite section. You can't ally in plague marine troops regardless, so....they aren't troops?

Grim resolve for DA wouldn't be bad if it wasn't for the drawback. Having a better chance to stick in a combat when you want and also retaining the choice to fall back and shoot wouldn't be bad. Stubborn has helped me a few times in games, but then there are times when I go "Just fall back and shoot the plasma gun, you idiot." like when facing off against Tyranid MCs.

Dark Angels- 7500 pts
Tau- 5000pts
Chaos Daemons- 3000/2000 pts
Dark Eldar(allies)- 1500 pts
