Just out of personal reference, I would think twice about getting a 4th Stormraven.
I am not saying it's a bad thing, but it's ALOT of points.

This are 800pts in total, and you will have to reserve more points into getting the proper FOC for Allies.

I (personally) choose to play IG ass allies, (or BA as allies to keep the points cost down a bit.
(Vendetta + HQ & Troops = cheaper than Stormraven + HQ & Troops)

You will also need some way to improve the chances of getting your flyers in, since 800pts in reserve that fail to enter the game up until T4 can be devastating
(seen it happen all to often).

If you are planning on playing 3+ flyers, I would strongly recommend a Defence Line with Comms Relay, or atleast an Astropath if your playing IG allies.

Yeah, you'll need a comms relay and probably need to read some bat reps of how this particular list functions.

Also note that 4 X Stormraven is meant for 1850+ games and will be accompanied by multiple small units for scoring. You are basically way undergunned until the reserves show up.

This. I tried a list at 1500 points that had Stormravens carrying stuff and three 5-man assault squads in Razorbacks hiding behind things and taking shots with their lascannons when they could get them in. Martel's point about being outgunned is key. If you employ the use-lots-of-stormravens tactic and even some of them fail to show up, you've just lost.

ok, so should i buy 3 ravens, a vendetta, 2 gaurd squad boxes, and a command squad and an aegis defence line, or what was that comms relay thing?

The comms relay is an upgrade to the aegis line. I don't know the IG choice that well. I know you can pack in a lot of models with their unit structure. And you can put marine ICs in guard squads to give them ATSKNF.

ok, if someone with using ig as allies could tell me what more i need, i currently have 20 guys, command squad, commissar, and thats it, so i guess my shopping list should be like
3 stormravens
2 vendettas?
1 aegis
2 more squads
and idk what else?

I think the IG can put heavy weapon teams in the command squad. You might need to make a new thread asking about an IG detatchment for BA.

Or play 4x Ravens. It's all up to you, and I am not here to say that either way is better.

I just think that you will get away cheaper with a vendetta instead of a 4th Stormraven, that's all.

But if you need to get that 4th flyer up as cheap as you can, you will get it up, flying for:

50pts CCS
70pts vet sq
140pts Vendetta

If you do play a 4th raven in the allies slot there is no need to take a different chapter 'rules wise'. Just take flesh tearers, blood drinkers etc. Whilst being different chapters, rules wise they aren't. Plus its nice and fluffy since the dex suggests co-operation amongst most of the chapters. Although pesonally i agree with the IG allies idea.

Actually, you can't ally BA with their successors, it's only the new C:SM book that can ally to itself, and I doubt BA will be able to in their next one as there is far less variation than between the other chapters in the SM book.

Yeh i just read that. I suppose you cant then if you play RAW butit goes against all the fluff and the spirit of the game to say brother chapters of the same father who are reported to aid one another will NEVER fight together... ridiculous!

It's not saying that they can't fight together, it's just that their tactics are similar enough to be represented by the same codex, whereas C:SM has to cover 6 entirely different legions and their successors, so they are essentially different codexes. For BA successors, you can just use the same army with differny units in different chapter colours.

To be honest, allying with SM might actually be a good option, you get cheaper tacs and scouts for scoring, access to another SR and also cheaper libbies, Sternguard and LS. Also, instead of the 4th Raven, you could even ally a Hunter/Stalker for some dedicated AA to take the fire off the SRs. It also opens up Chapter Tactics, and there's nothing to stop you 'counts-as'ing a BA successor. I can see the IH being useful for 6+ FNP on scoring troops, as well as IWND on your allied vehicles (a SR with IWND would be tougher to bring down)

Tactics wise i totally agree with you about vanilla. Fluff wise i want to see the blood angels and successors stand together shoulder to shoulder fighting against the choas horde on its way to Baal. I suppose it could be a successor chapter counted as vanilla like you say, maybe they have momenterily warded of the blood thirst.

If you want a BA successor with BA, just paint some units differently, as Flesh Tearers or the like, and use the BA codex for them all. Fluffy and simple.
