hi, id like some help making an army list at 1000 points which includes at leat two squads of 10 assault marines, other than that, just the most effective things you can think of, thanks!

Here goes:

Librarian, JP (Shield of Sangiunis, Sanguine Sword): 125

Sanguinary Priest, JP: 75

10 ASM, 2x melta, meltabombs : 210

10 ASM, 2x flamer, Hand Flamer,meltabombs: 210

5 Death Company, JP: 175

5 scouts, sniper rifles, ML: 85

ADL, Quad-gun: 100


The ASM should concentrate on a flank, SP with one, libby with the other, but close enough that both units can use SOS and FNP. Scouts sit back and man ADL/use ML for AA/AT. Death co move up with ASM to hit something hard. It's not the best list, but it should hold its own, and has lots of JP. The key is to concentrate your army on part of the enemy, and use your superior mobility to dictate where the fight happens.

Librarian (Shield, Unleash Rage, Jump Pack)

Furioso (Frag Cannon, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod)

Sanguinary Priest (Jump Pack, Melta Bombs)

ASM (10 man, X2 Melta)

ASM (10 man, X2 Melta)

ASM (10 man, X2 Flamer, Melta Bombs)

Combat squad as needed and use the Dread as a distraction so your other units can make it into CC.

For BA? I would say it is nearly an auto-take.

If your taking Death Company, I like them with bolters and no jump packs. They are 20 points each, you can rapid fire before charging due to relentless. The only down side is you get 4 attacks on the charge instead of 5. Side note, a Stormraven is one of the most consistent performers in the BA codex.

This list as quite a low model count, and as such will struggle against horde armies and require good force concentration to use well.

im sorry, i wasnt clear with my reply, i dont have a stormsraven, so would like a 1000 point list without it. i currently have 2x 10 man assault marine squads with power fist sarges, but tell me if that needs to change, some models i can counts as death company, and dropods, razor back, rhino, tacticals, terminators, etc

Aha, I see. Here goes a list, no SR:

Libby, JP, meltabombs: 130

Sanguinary Priest, JP: 75

10 ASM, 2 melta, PF: 235

10 ASM, 2 flamer, PF: 225

10 death co, bolters: 200
Drop Pod: 35

5 scouts, camo cloaks, snipers, ML: 100

total: 1000

The scouts sit a hold an objective, the rest charges forward and kills stuff. Drop the death co near something weak and rapid-fire it, 20 bolter shots should hurt something quite badly, and thne charge them into something, again rapid-firing on the way in. Try to overlap the 6" bubbles for FNP from the priest and SOS from the libby. You have no AA, so if you face fliers a lot drop 5 death co and get a ADL with quad gun, if not then stick with the death co.

Given the specifications you've asked for (20 assault marines, no raven, no fortifications) id say paradigm has it spot on there! Only dofference id make is take the melta bombs off the lib and give them to the priest as id run the lib with shield and sword powers so he will be eating armour for breakfast anyway. Scouts hold objextive on own board edge and those 1st turn dropping death co will terrify any opponent! Only slight difference i MIGHT make is trading the death co for combi melta equipped unit of sternguard to take out any battle tank turn 1 that WILL ruin your day.

500 is a very tough to cover all the bases with BA thanks to our high unit cost, but here's a good enough list:

Libby: 100 (uses 'Wings of Sanguinis)' to save points on JP)

10 ASM, meltagun: 200
10 ASM, 2 flamers: 200

As for 750:

Libby, meltabombs: 100 (Wings as above)

10 ASM, 2x melta: 210

10 ASM, 2x flamer: 200

6 death co: 120
drop Pod: 35

Sang Preist, JP, meltabombs: 75

total: 750

And always remember a BA lib can use 2 powers a turn if one is shield because hes allowed to use 1 per PLAYER TURN and shield is used in opponents turn. I always like reminding BA players of this as its a HUGE advantage.

1k battles are v difficult for BA since almost all our units are the price of most armies elites. Big handicap when you cant take the units you want/need. You will always have a glaring weakness that cant be covered due to the points. BA are designed for 1850k+

Greater point battles only help marginally. Everything in the book is so expensive that at higher point battles, we just end up outnumbered and outgunned even worse.

Contrary to most others posters on this topic, I'm pretty wary of Stormravens. Especially at a low point level like 1000, it is going to be 1/5 of your army, which is 200 points that can't go to troops/other units, which you already won't have much of as BA are so expensive. Are you planning to use it to transport units? Or just as heavy support?

well i think the stormravens for when i make it up to 1500 points, as heavy support, but i might try them out with termies or frag furioso? im not sure

I agree wholeheartedly. You're just asking your for expensive assault termies/DC/Mehpiston/whatever to get shot out of the sky. Taking S10 hits when they fall isn't fun for anything. Trust me, I've learned the hard way. I'm not even sure I'd run them as only heavy support at this point.

Well Stormraven spam is a legit tourney build. Maybe our best. But it's lame and has hard, hard counters.

Depends on your meta I guess, but the tourney lists I've seen have three BA Stormravens and often, and allied 4th.
