Not even then. Not when GW won't even round down to the nearest dollar on a $10,000 plus purchase. Anyone who wants a Chapter should go to a discounter or five. You could buy four or five Thunderhawks with the money you'd save, if that rocks your boat.

Hmm. I wonder why? Clearly GW expect it will sell, so someone out there is willing to drop 10k on toy soldiers, but can't be arsed going through individually and buying them.

The plural of codex is codexes.

Would be interesting to see what they'd include in a chapter bundle.
They'd have to do 10 companies.
They'd probably include the minimum apocalypse formations for vehicles.
Surely there would have to be some rhinos and drop pods though none of the company boxes they've released for apocalypse have transport from what I recall.
The original Battle Company box had 8 rhinos and a razorback. In the new one these vehicles have been replaced by a couple of dreads and a chaplain.

Will the new company boxes include the new or old space marine squad boxes?

This is really puzzling. $13,000 at once is way too much for anyone to just throw around. It's a major investment. I'm genuinely curious if anybody is really going to use this.

It also highlights how expensive their products are. Nobody in their right mind is going to look at an army and think it's worth 10,000 euros. You want the customer to not associate high prices with toy soldiers. But most of what GW does defies logic anyway.

This isn't aimed at you or me. It's aimed at the high end Apocalypse crowd. Those are the ones you see show up at the Apocalypse mega battles and they have ten's of thousands of dollars of stuff to show off.

Even so, those kind of collections are gathered over many years. Most of us have all spent thousands, but some of us have been collecting for decades. To throw away $13,000 at once is a life-changing kind of investment short term.

It's not just the money, you'd be looking at over 1000 marines to assemble and paint along with over 50 vehicles.

It doesn't really matter how many people buy it, it's not like it's costing GW any extra to put this up. My only fear is if I hit the order button by accident.

I don't think you quite understand the level of wealth we're talking here. $13,000 isn't life changing for them, it's pocket change.

Right? I mean, Privateer started to encroach on their market share 2-3 years ago, and then GW blew them out of the water the last 18 months. Even separated from them a bit. Now they are releasing models, books, and digital content every single month and all the codices were written close together for better balance. Horrible logic!

Oh wait...you mean it defies internet whiners logic (equivalent to the logic of a newborn emu). Gotcha.

Nah he didnt stutter... GW's policies regarding consumer/provider relations and price tactics are down-right dull, even if they did better (as you say with no supporting evidence) better than PP with there mulitple huge releases this year including gargantuans book and models, a 300+% successful kickstarter for a videogame (took GW decades to get into that market), incredible releases at various cons, great pricing and support, blah blah blah...

The point is, its true... GW has done better than many thought this year, but that still does not account for strange up-hill ice skating in order to garner support for a product... this kind of thing smells like mold in wheat bread...

Wouldn't it be cheaper to become a self supplying/buying retailer at that cost level?

Pssst... your n00b is showing. GW has been in the video game market since at least '91 with HeroQuest.

funny, GW had a computer game back in 1992... sure they took decades to make one, but then I guess they didn't feel like mnaking one for the atari 2600... (space crusade game Gremlin graphics software, look it up)

(that'll teach me not to read to the end before posting... )

I don't think they expect to sell it.

Probably someone at marketing thought it would be cool to put it in the shop, since it might attract customers who want to check the army out.
But in reality it's probably going to scare potential customers away with its price.

Isnt it just straight retail like all their bundle "deals"? I cant see anyone buying it when they could save a few grand buying it online from anywhere else.

It's pure advertising. For the cost of having a web-monkey put together the page and put it on the order form, they get to showcase a full chapter and get people to dream and drool over it. There have been threads here in the past asking how much it would cost to buy a chapter, and now GW is letting us know. The price is so far out there, it does not make a difference if it's $13k or a million. But if it sparks someone's imagination, and inspires them to collect at least part of it, then GW has won, and the time and effort to whip it up was well spent.

I'm curious if it's going to have the "Usually ships within 24 hours." bit on the page. It would probably take longer then that to get together and find boxes to fit everything in. But then, if I'm shelling out 13 grand, they can afford some overtime.

I doubt this is really aimed at people to buy. What it does do, is raise expectations of what it is reasonable to collect / buy. Someone might not buy the whole Chapter, but might get the 1 click Company. It is a variation on Reference Pricing (other bundles look affordable / good value in comparison).

The four aircraft to the right of it look like Thunderhawks. They are bigger than the Land Raiders, so not Stormhawks. That doesn't look like any variant I've seen from Forgeworld yet.
