Pg3 mentions older models may be used as they came, though you gotta base them properly. I can still use my old broadsides if i wanted to use the railguns despite them being about 3/4 the size or so of the new broadsides
lol. Though im pretty sure i cant use them as
HYMP broadsides.
Old
tac marines are still legal. The difference? Not as shiny looking...literally...maybe a new toy but they still have their old toys too
It has happened before, but not generally to Marines, as they have kept pretty much the same loadout and wargear for ages, and get updated every edition.
SM jetbikes are the only one that immediately comes to mind, back ages ago.
A fair few of the old Ork models got invalidated (like the Pulsa Rokkit, Hop Splat Gun etc) when they updated codexes ages back. You could claim them as Lobbas or Kannon, but it wasn't the same.
Some things came back after being removed, like the Shokk Attack gun being added back into the current codex. Hopefully they'll let me run a proper Painboss again someday.
Stealer cults used to be a playable army, but stealer hybrids are now a no-no (barring odd campaign rules).
On a different army note
DE lost the ability
ot give
HQ's jetbikes or Skyboards. You could use your archon on skyboard as Sathonyx, i suppose, but your jetbike archon was
SOL.
I had some Imperial Robots back in the day. They vanished from the lore and model shelves for ages.
FW is starting to fiddle with them again now.
More often they'll re-arrange the lists, but you'll still be able to find a use for your model in a different slot or unit.
