Wow this is awesome! I've used Google sketch up a while ago just to mess around but I had no idea it could be used to send to shape ways!

I might have to try and make a few things for my tau. The good thing about tau is the boxy feel makes it easy to create stuff for.

Do you just make measurements on Google sketch up to the size you want the bit to be then send it in to shape ways?

How much are they charging for that remora? Looks like you did a great job!

Whatever size you have in Sketchup is the size they'll print out in Shapeways.

I will have to give this a shot and see if I can make some mini rail rifles for broadside conversions

Runnin up on ya.

Wow. Some great stuff here. Have you considered just making a mold and casting your own resin of your printed masters? You'd be out a great deal less than $8/each in that case...

I'm looking forward to seeing that jetpack on a model!

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Thanks for sharing.

I like your aegis line - two reasons.

1 - looks good, and tau-ish
2 - looks to match the dimensions of the original, so no player can ever complain about any model discrepancies.

To others who are curious - there are a lot of 40k models/bits on shapeways - just do a search.

There are just not a lot of tau....

I really need to boost my sketchup skills....

thanks for sharing!!!!!

Well I decided to just do it and bang out a basic rail gun for broadside conversions or whatever.
The overall length is about 6cm/2.5 inches

Now this is just really basic as I just did it in about 1.5 hours max still need some details and a way to attach it to the suit. Any ideas to improve it?
Sorry if I am adding this in, just thought it's similar since this is Tau 3d stuff

Looks pretty good. I like to model in 3mmx1mm holes to accomodate magnets... basically add predrilled holes into the design. I magnetize all my suits, so this makes life that much easier.

That's a good idea actually, I magnetize my units as well it would save drilling haha

Really nice stuff in this here thread.

I play Ultras and collect Tau, it'd be nice if I ever end up allying them to have some units that look like they share tech (even though that's blatant heresy, especially for the poster boys).
