The Genswick are actually where I got the idea from, but didnt know their name at that time.I really wanted a more heavily armored look across my army (even if its still the equivalent of cardboard ) and I think it came out best mixing the bret head and the cadian torso and arms for that medieval meets future that I want the 75th to embody.
I want to give credit for the color scheme to 40kFSU, I hadnt thought of using browns or tans as anything more than detail colors untill he showed me a link.

Abit of a update before bed. The sum of all my hobbying over the weekend, between going on a trip with the wife and mother inlaw, and packing I didnt get much done but still some good progress. Finally figured out a name for the knight too, Jack in Irons, after the old folktale monster. More to come on that later though, g'night dakka!
P.s Really happy with the second psyker. I was going to try to gs the astra telepathica symbol on his helmet but it turned out very poorly and I prompty filed it off. If anyone could turn me onto some guides to working with gs I would appreciate it.

So taking abit of a break kitbashing, I've turned my thoughts to the fluff of my regiment. In the fluff they hail from the imperial knightworld of Vorradis which borders the Gould Stars, named after the knight house Vorrad who where first to ally themselves when the imperials made planetfall during the great crusade. The commander of the regiment is Duchess Artisma Vorrad, also known as The Iron Duchess, the neice of the head of the current head of house Vorrad and planetary governor Imdrid Vorrad.
The planet itself is a largly mountainous with snow capped peaks and seperated by searing deserts, the result of war I havent thought of yet. The large majority of the populous lives on large plateaus or fortress carved directly into the mountains by some forgotten denizens that shared the planet with the humans, only remembered by worn depictions of broad bearded faces carved directly into the stone of the mighty peaks. Also left behind are great winding caverns the delve deep into the heart of every mountain fortress, from these caverns the Vorradians draw forth the minerals they trade with the Mechanicum and others for knights, technology, and food
As for the people themselves, Vorradian view martialprowress with great admiration. To be a member of the PDF is to live abit better that everyone else, and to join the Imperial guard is to have the chance to serve the Emperor and should you prove worthy perhapes return as a nobel and be granted land and serfs. Everyone is trained to some degree in combat, fortress dwellers more that others with nobels formal trained and instructed from childhood to one day vie for the right to pilot a knight. This carries over into a distinctive approach to combat of establishing a fortified position and waiting g for the enemy to break itself on the walls before lashing out with fast hard hitting forces to scatter their foes. The reason behind this is ever few generations the planet is set upon by unkown invaders, silent as death this gleaming monsters leave skinnless bodies and gore streaked, empty villages.
With all this in mind I though to myself "I need a wicked regimental banner". So I've worked something I'm happy with out and even sketched out what I want to paint on it. All I need now is some to translate their motto to latin " In armor of blood red honor" unfortuantly thats proving the hardest part! If you folks have and suggestion or tips just lemme know, all feedback and critques are appreciated!

Thanks for all the great feedback, always gets the creative juices flowing, and Yay first subcriber! Now i have to update regularly.. ish
Alrighty, so got abit more done as I had a 24 hour shift recently. First off I finished kitbashing a whole squad, complete with unique sergeant (I plan for all of them to be different) and putting the terrain on the bases for them, and primed the whole lot of them.
Secondly, finished the bearer for the regimental standard. I'm working on armoring him up abit to represent carapace but the GS is tricky. Really difficult to get those nice squared off edges, and sides. I think I've started over five times heh, I'll get it though! Once I figure out the trick to GS I want to do some filigree on all of the armor of my command squad.
*My phone is dead atm and its abit late so I'll charge it and post some pics tomorrow.*

Alrighty well its been abit since my last post, moving from Europe to the US can do that though. While I stay in a hotel waiting for my house to be ready I've done a bit of experimenting with terrain for my heavy weapons teams. I have to say I think it came out rather well for first attempts.
Also as promised pics of the regimental standard bearer.

I'll let all of you know now I will probably never stand with any of the legends of dakka, My GS skills are nigh none existent, I've never touched a piece of plasticard in my life, I use plastic glue, my paint jobs are mediocre at best, my grammar is horrible and I tend to post while half asleep . However, I LOVE to kitbash and have squirreled away every single bit and sprue i have bought over the past 5 years leaving me with alot of resources to draw from for every crazy idea I come up with. With that said, please critique, comment, give advice, and if you know where in Germany I could get things by all means let me know!
In my fluff *which i have still yet to write down in any readable format* The 75th Hail from the planet Vorradis, on the eastern edge of the Segmentum Ultima, bordering the Ghoul Stars. The planet possesses aa feudal society with warrior nobles controlling swaths of land and ultimately answering to the planetary governor, the greatest warrior of them all. To serve in the PDF is a position of honor and one of two ways to beat the caste system. The other is to join the Imperial guard, serve The Emperor, hopefully survive, be knighted, and eventually be retired to rule as a lord of your own land back on the homeworld.
With that, I've set about building my techno-medieval regiment starting with these two.
What classification Vorradis falls into?
1. Feudal world
2. Knight world
3. Agro world
How technologically advance this world is? do they have to import weapons and FlaK armor elsewhere while the local smith guilds make medieval siege helmets for troops?
And is the military service the only way a common peasantry earn social mobility? in other feudal/knight worlds. nobility is heredity only and not even the best military service propells any peasantry to this.

Definatly a knight world, the planetary gov Imdrid Vorrad is also the head of main knight house of the planet.
As far as technology goes, within the mountain fortresses are bays for the knights, void shields, generatoriums, most things you would. Expect from a 40k fortress. Outside of these mountain side strongholds tech drops off steeply, A laslock or lasgun are rare and cherished heirlooms from "heroic ancestors", your more likely to be chased off with a basic but well maintained sword, axe, or mace.
Military service allows social mobility but only up to a point. The knight pilots are highborn, of a specific family and trained from birth to the highest standard to vie for knighthood with siblings ensuring only the strongest and cunning survive. To return from the guard as a hero could elevate a peasant to a low knight, below the knight houses and their branch families but held in high regard by the highborns who they now serve as vassal for.
The way I envision it is a very hardened stoic culture. Trying to dig the Vorradians out of their fortification is like trying to move the mountain itself, once they've worn s enemy down they'll roll over they like a rockslide.

It really brightens my day that I'm getting such positive feedback on the kit bashing. I put a lot of thought into them so they don't look just cobbled together. With the stress of the move its great to have that little ray of sunshine.
You would assume correctly! At the moment I have just a single knight paladin in progress, moving from europe to america has put a hold on it as I accidentally packed the battle cannon arm in the things being shipped over.
On a good note though I was able to extend the pistons on the chainsword arm so I can get a much better range from it!

Cool work, interesting concept. I wonder, considering the name of the knight, did you consider adding actual chains to him?
Also, wondering what the final goal is with the chainsword, it almost looks like he's got a..."reverse grip" on it

I actually have starbomber! I have several chain pieces from all over 40k and fantasy, my issue is adding the chains without making it look too chaos-ish. That and I want to also do is pose the knight first and have the chains flailing in the wind like it's wheeling around to unleash the full fury of that chainblade on some poor schmuck.
The fluff for the knight is he's the most battle hungry of his house and literally has to have his engine restrained when shipped to battle to keep him from rampaging into battle.
On the position of the blade, I had just laid it down to get a good shot of it, but now that at it.... I'm thinking that maybe I could do a reverse grip with a powerfist scratch build on what would normally be the back end, thanks for the idea!
Heh thanks, its my first real venture into scenic basing. I'm actually a US service member, I've just been stationed in Germany the past 4 years, my wife however! She's Polish and its her first time stateside but she's liking it, something new for her!

Finally decided to sit down and and start working on my priests and finish the last of my primaris psykers. I can only build so many guardsmen before I need a change of pace to keep from burning myself out. Since red is featured in my army and just the general rules of the priest, I decided go with redemptionist feel.
I also have started on the last of my 3 Primaris, I wanted this one to be abit more tortured looking and actively manifesting a power and I think I've managed to make him rather menacing without him looking like a chaos sorc. A pretty good start I think

The Priests are looking awesome, you can just see them yelling "I've got a plasmagun that explodes one in every six times I fire. The other five, it takes your head clean off. So ask yourself one question: Do feel lucky? Well do ya, Heretic?"
The fire-breathing psyker is also a very neat idea.

Yeah, I just decided to stick the plasma guns on as I onlybhave two decent looking autoguns I can salvage from the bits I have with me at the moment. I'm thinking that for the last priest I'll do a shoulder mounted loudhailer something like Kell, possibly blindfolded too. (Don't ask me how he's gonna aim his weapon )
I've also finished attaching the last on my brettonian legs to my cadian torsos, I'm going to need to order more and abunch more brett heads as well since I still have my 10+ heavy weapons teams to outfit as well. for the Vets I want real heavy infantry feel almost like Inq crusaders. I'm thinking SM scout legs and Empire greaswords heads. I'm not sure on torso or arms though.
Also, finished the final Primaris, pics incoming tomorrow when I have daylight to work with.

So for the longest time I've only really worked at kitbashing infantry. So today I decided to step out of my comfort zone and do something with my heavy armor.
I like the leman russ, really I do but it's just too bare for my tastes. I've decided to gussy it up a bit, with handholds for the crew, some external systems, a little extra plating on the front with a heraldic shield and a banner hanging from the vanquisher cannon. Also, I hate, hate, HATE, the dinky plug and play lascannon that comes with the kit so I took a spare HWT one and shaved down the end, looks sooo much better to me.
I think having lances tethered to the sides would be cool but I feel like it would make the model too busy, opinions? What I will have is a kitbashed Pask counts as with lance at the ready "Drive me closer, I feel like abit of jousting!". Let me know what you folks think!

Woohoo! The wife and myself finally moved into our new apartment! Best part about it? We have three bedrooms so that means the Vorradis 75th just got a new HQ aka MANCAVE! (Though when the rest of our stuff shows up the missus will have a place for her DE).To celebrate I put together the first of my Vets.
Now originally I wanted to have mechanized biker knights in my regiment as I was SURE am was going to bring about a revamp Roughriders and put them more in the line of deathriders, but nooooooo. So I decided to settle for knightly vets instead, at this point I think I have the gist of what I want down. The scout legs are nice but I'm still working on what to use as thigh & knee armor, maybe I'll try some GS but I'm still having issues getting nice smooth edges.
Also, the beginnings of my new work station!
Edit: Forgot to say that these two will be my vet sergeants!

*Warning! Pic heavy post*
So I have a HUGE update! After setting up the new High command for the 75th, there have been several new additions to the regiment!
First off, all the Infantry squad sergeants are complete and about to undergo painting! I tried my hand at blending on a power weapon and I think it came out pretty well for having never tried the technique before and just generally having no idea what I was doing
Next up, my final Primaris! I wanted to try and capture the look of him violently manifesting a power and think it came out rather nicely. I know the lower half of the staff is crooked but I'm just too lazy to fix it.
Finally, a Inquisitor joins the 75th! He's supposed to be Ordo Hereticus, the little predator look shoulder thing is suppose to be a psyocculum, and more than likely he will be wielding two pistols. I kitbashed him from just pieces I had on hand, he was fun build but I plan to build a Inq for every ordo once all me stuff arrives from Germany.

The enemies of Mankind may employ dark sciences or alien weapons beyond Humanity's ken, but such deviance comes to naught in the face of honest human intolerance back by a sufficient number of guns. |
