So does New England, and it is better, because it is American Maple Syrup and not some commie northern maple syrup.

Can someone explain this comment to me? I mean, what the hell is the relation between american exceptionalism and this shooting?

Was this just an donkey-cave going the extra lenght to be extra offensive?

Yes. A Russian lackey is trying to troll the USA. Don't feed the trolls.

We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".

But Putin supported the comment, no?

I mean, I know the situation is rocky right now with the Ruskies, and that WWIII won't start over such a stupid comment, but this seems awfully petty and, well, forced, coming from the russian Head of State.

Take it in stride. We can actually chalk up more screw ups in Russia then in the US. Besides them goat roping their sub that went down. Remember the Chechen Rebels that took over a school and the massive screw up they did.

We did it to them too when their submarine went down a few years back killing the entire crew. Every one likes to kick the horse when its down.

We (our government) didn't mock them. We berated them for not coming to us for help when we were the only ones with proven technology to rescue that crew. Russia put pride over the lives of their Sailors, and it was wrong to do so.

This would be the Kursk. There were several nations that offered assistance with the rescue, all to be turned down due to "national pride" and other stupid things. The British and Norwegians also offered assistance and by the time Russia decided to accept help from the Norwegians it was too late. So no, we didn't criticize them because they had a submarine go down, they were criticized because of their refusal to save the lives of the men aboard. Now I will grant that its debated how long the sailors would have survived, ask Russia and death was almost instant, but it was long enough to write notes and use Co2 candles, which ultimately could have led to their demise as Co2 Candles and oily water are a bad mix (other than you know, being in a submarine with a giant hole in it). Plus they blamed it on a collision with an American sub, which stirred the pot a bit.. (still under debate but the most popular theory is that a torpedo cooked off in the tube, not the warhead but leaking of fuel into the main compartment of the torpedo itself causing a reaction)

I agree with him. Public shootings happen in the USA all the time, it really isn't a surprise.

It's like bombings in Pakistan. I don't jump for joy or anything when I hear about it, but it's simply "yawn what else is in the news?"

Define a public shooting? Mass shootings in the U.S. happen about as often as Europe. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but Europe on the whole is only four or five mass slayings behind the U.S. and that Brevik fellow makes our guys look like they barely stepped out the door.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I wonder if its the same 'Russian official' who made offensive comments about the UK during the G20 that put Putin in apology and denial mode.

'Diplomacy' doesn't translate well into Russian it seems.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

I recall from a documentary that a lot of the hostages drowned because when they were removed from the theater still unconscious, they were lain on their backs in the rain.

But I might have been drinking when I watched that and remember it wrong.

Count and compare Europe and the U.S. yourself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rampage_killers

I limited my numbers to the last decade. Also Brevik murdered 77 and injured 319. That is better then double our last three nut cases put together.

From that link and counting just from 2001 forward, a high count of rampage killers, workplace killers and school massacres makes the count 17 incidents in the whole of continental Europe (minus Russia), and 33 incidents for the USA.
