See, people on this topic are how misinformation gets spread, saying LA's totally awesome doesn't work is straight up wrong, and a disservice to the community. There is a thread with hundreds of people who it has worked for, and it has provided a brand new person like me with results like this
BEFORE:
AFTER:
Tell me more about how it doesn't work, especially with models that look as terrible as those, I mean come on it looks like they basecoated with charcoal.

To the OP. Sorry about what happened. Itis probably late now, but what you do when matte varnish goes all snoflake on you, isyou giveit a coat of gloss , and it remelts the varnish. then you can re matte varnish the model. Also LATA is great. use it all the time.

I will try both, but I have been using LA's Totally Awesome and I'm wondering if I am correct in diluting it about 50% with tap water...
It hasn't damaged anything yet, but I have been scrubbing the crap out of stuff. It would totally work better straight, but I'm worried about melting plastic....
Can you use undiluted totally awesome on plastic models??

You dont need to dilute it at all.

Ive been using Krylon Matte Varnish for a couple years and it works great no issues, other than if it was too hot outside and it flash dried (live in Arizona). Best of luck!

Woah, people so defensive. I said LA totally awesome is BALLS compared to dawn power dissolver. Try it for yourself.
LA totally awesome works just fine, just not as good as dawn from my experience... Not even comparable.
for same money you get like 8-10x as much LA totally awesome, but It required lots of more scrubbing to remove paint than the dawn stuff..
but its cool, I'm just wrong and a disservice to the community for trying to point out a particular product works better than another from my experice, me right?

This is why I only use Testors Gloss followed by Testors dull coat. I have not had thus problem since. I have had the worst results with Army Painter clear coats so far.
I have tried some olive oil on a cotton bud to take off frosting with good results.

For those interested in results from dawn power dissolver, here's a video from d_usa on dakkadakka about it / showing before and after
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/449574.page
he scrubs it in video, but only had been soaking for 6 hours..
when I let it sit for a few days i just run them under tap and usually pick off stringy bits with a toothpick, Usually never need to pick up the toothbrush...
& I have 2 big jugs of LA totally awesome that I have used for a long time.. they work, but IMO slower, and require more scrubbing. So really not sure the problem is with me saying dawn > LA

Just want to give a +1 to this fix for frosted images in case it happens again to OP.
And Dawn Power Disolve kicks paint in the balls. It's amazing.
