Subject: Republican list of demands to raise debt ceiling
both parties are to blame for this... its been a LONG time coming, they have not passed a budget in years, just these temporary stop gap resolutions, and oh yeah, PRINT MOAR MONEY THAT WILL FIX EVERYTHING.
this is the end result of a "turd sandwich" vs" giant douche" two party system that just keeps kicking the can farther down the road each time.

Too bad that existing government can't be funded as is w/o Policy changes. At least separate the policy change bills so that they're vetting appropriately.
So, you also think that the Republicans should separate out their demands (including the "Obamacare" removal) from the Debt Limit/Government Funding bills so those demands can be vetted appropriately?
Or perhaps just give the clean bills an up or down vote in the house (which would pass with moderate Republicans and Democrats together)?
Honestly... yeah, I think that's the right tactic. Let the ACA keep going.
The problem is that the House tried to introduce new laws/policy... the Senate refuses to floor it to have a debate. Having an honest debate, compromise, tit-for-tat is HEALTHY. At least the constituents would know where their Congress-critters stand on certain issue.

Passing a budget wouldn't have changed anything. You have a new budget every year, so as soon as the last one expires the Republicans could simply refuse a new budget and any CRs in order to have their hissy fit.
And I have explained to you before that QE had nothing to do with fiscal policy. Please fething learn this and stop repeating stuff that is wrong.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

The intersting thing is that traditionally a "weak" Congress has led to an Imperial Presidency and embolden Judiciary as they have to step in and fill the governmental gap left by the vacant Congress.
Does anyone think we are seeing this during this administration?
