This case is really no different than having a pregnant women walking into her appointment and telling the lady "Hey, I did crack for the last 12 weeks. But I weaned myself off of it so I don't need any further treatment to protect my child, pinkie promise."

Percocet is still addictive man.

I'll have to dig up some stats, but I recall that there's way more overdose deaths due to drugs like percocet than coke.

The physician had understandable concerns, and was likely duty bound to report her. The manner in which the case was handled after that though, by the police, state, and courts, was just crazy.

Being arrested for not taking some medication when she "passed" a drug test (I use quotes bc she still had some small amount of the drug they wanted her to take in her system), and the pregnancy was otherwise very normal is pretty off the wall.

Her not having a lawyer at her hearing while her fetus had one is pretty absurd.

The smart way to handle this is to require consistent checkups with drug screening. That way, if she backslides you'll find out, without hugely impacting her rights. If she was an active addict, I could understand the state's actions, but in this case they seem to have gone too far.

Shock therapy MIGHT help them.

Shock therapy will not help them.

However, if you are feeling depressed about it, then shock therapy may help you.

Honestly, much research has been conducted in this field and it has been proven to have a high correlation between shock therapy and mitigating the effects of depression.

However, I do see where you're coming from and agree that one can never have too much research in matters such as this.

Right of course, my theory is that baseless stupidity and hate might be connected to depression, dissatisfaction and other negative emotions, some of which have been shown to be mitigated by shock therapy. An increase in voltage and regularly therapy might actually prove useful.

If not... I like to think society still wins any way.
