Wouldn't happen. They'd have to show pictures of older models and there's no point in doing that if you can't buy them anymore.

I'd also be interested in a reprinting of Rogue Trader just to have it, and that's something that would actually make sense as a limited edition, but they'd never do it because IIRC Rogue Trader didn't push huge fething armies with lots of big, expensive kits...wouldn't want people thinking they could play a GW game with only a couple dozen models and a vehicle or two and still have fun after all. And even if they did it would be $250+ anyway, so no one would buy it except idiots thinking they can make small fortunes on eBay (Pro tip: you won't).

Yeah, it does. Too bad you can't just buy that on its own, sounds like a cool thing to frame and display in a game room.

Anyone want to take bets in GW not actually having the legal right to print RT anymore?

This is why I didn't buy the Codex:SM when it came out...

Like a mug I bought the LE 6th ed rulebook, and was disappointed when it didn't have extra content. I've not opened it for months, as I got the DV rules, too.
GW can dangle LE books all you like, I've been bitten once already.

Doesnt GW hold themselves as "we are model company and not a rules company" motto anymore?

Personally I like the sub codex's and all the digital stuff but the LE stuff really is becoming a joke. Not only that but they do a horrible job advertising it too.

So we're talking like £300 for another "limited" item, which is effectively a dressed up Space marine codex.

Still, grab your bucket of popcorn cause the rabid GW haters are gonna find this thread sooner or later.

3/10 put effort into it next time will you? The more complex bait would have at least not used the ad-homiem and generalisation.

I know that GW makes most of their cash through Space Marines and there's always been a favouritism and focus on that particular product range but even as a hobby casual, I feel like they're really starting to milk this cow a bit much.
It will only be too much when they stop selling them.

People paying a 100% markup for a dust jacket shows that there is a market for these kinds of products. The fact that the special edition covers of C:SM sold out ridiculously fast only helps fuel products like this.

Sadly, as disgusting as it is, I imagine this, even with a healthy three digit price tag, will sell out quickly.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

That's thinking a little too far ahead for GW.

*Looks around*

Still a lot of fething comic books getting made...

-Galaxis: a fold out map of the Galaxy folio
-Illuminatus: a 72page art gallery of Space Marines
-Adeptus Astartes: shows off every Space Marine miniature painted by the eavy metal team

I like all of these things, but I already have an LE Space Marine Codex. If only you could just BUY these things. I framed the Space Marines of the Badab War Poster from IA9. That's a bad-ass poster.

Only after companies like Marvel cut to the bone, selling the rights to everything to everyone to make as much short term cash as possible. Hmm... sounds familiar now that I think about it.

Only because Warner and Disney bought DC and Marvel (as well as some of those indy companies) so all of the integrity of those beloved characters were sold as well. That is why we have a dozen different Batman titles each month and they are all crap. This is also why we are going to have movie upon movie based off these characters until they are run into the ground and everyone hates them. I actually hope this happens to GW at this point so we can have some real change. As it stands, I am almost disgusted to be a part of this hobby. The price point is embarrassing.

I am The Fury. The flames of my rage will incinerate you. I came back from space. As I returned, I had one vision. The world set ablaze. And do you know what I saw there? (he aims his flamethrower upwards and incinerates a group of bats) Fury! A great and terrible Fury at being alive. Now you're going to feel the scorching heat of that horrible blackness.

There were 4 Superman titles per month in the mid 90s. And 3 Batman titles then, too.

Very true. There have been multiple "big guns" titles since the 80s. Web of Spiderman, Tales of the Dark Knight, Batman and Detective. Hell, even turtles had at least 3 titles. I suppose the time and place to discuss the ups and downs of the comics industry and whether or not the mainstreaming of the industry is a good or bad thing is on some other forum site.

As for how I feel about an Ultima edition of anything coming from GW that does not include limited models; not good.

I have a near-mint condition copy of Rogue Trader.

Absolutely wonderful book, most interesting GW product I've ever owned.

Definitely recommend it if you're looking for something worth the money on ebay.

Even the back cover is just plain iconic and creates a far more wonderful depiction of the madness of the 40k world than any amount of Mat Ward fluff ever stands a hope of achieving:

That description is just plain gripping, and is really what appealed to me about 40k back when I was little... this utterly crazy bit of sci-fi that was just plain dark and utterly demented where everything had gone to hell and made typical sci-fi fare at time (star trek: TNG) seem kinda boring in comparison.

Probably the biggest failing of modern GW since 3rd edition onwards is that complete failure to "get" what made the lightning in the bottle in the first place. They've made attempts at rekindling some of the old style but it feels somewhat half-hearted and sterile in comparison.

Note that the 40k slogan has changed as well. The original was far more negative in tone.

I also think the series 1 opening title sequence for Red Dwarf was the best, for similar reasons to the above. Just that wonderful combination of bleak/ more-than-a-little-bit insane pitched against a sci-fi backdrop.

It was a truly awesome book, my original copy disappeared years ago, I managed to bag a second hand copy in poor condition about 15 years ago, just so I'd got one, but unfortunately my folks have managed to lose that since I moved out.

I have to say the Realms Of Chaos books probably trump it for the most interesting GW product, they have the same vibe at 11, IMO. My Slaves To Darkness was a bit tatty, but my Lost And The Damned was in lovely condition. Folks have contrived to lose those too.
