This is an amazing model that is well worth the points. But it also one of the reasons that a lot of people are hesitant with Forge World in general. The rules for said model are freaking brutal and honestly need to be trimmed down a little or the point cost for the unit has to go up.
Honestly get it. Even if the rules change it is well worth the purchase as it is a brilliant looking model.

This makes about as much sense as saying you should ban codex units because Vendettas are insanely underpriced.
Meh. Even bringing up the Vendetta cost makes me chuckle these days. It is a very tame unit by current standards, even for the points cost. Not that it ever really impressed me that much to begin with. Yes, it's nasty when it flanks your tank, but still, two lascannon hits on average per turn isn't much to write home about in this day and age, even if it is hard-ish to kill without lots of AA. Basically if you couldn't have it in squadrons, no one would likely give a hoot about it.

Its very good against anything without a 2+ save or flyers. However, it has a bit of a problem in that it sits in the heavy attack slot, which combined with the high cost skews your army in some way except at high point levels. At 1500, you either suffer from lack of scoring presence, trouble dealing with large numbers 2+ saves, or issues with anti-air firepower. Once you start getting up to 1850 and above though, it gets less impactful and its ability to (with appropriate support as should be expected for tau) generally put a 5" hole in whatever you feel like becomes a pain to deal with. To be honest, it seems to be a common theme with tau, at lower and mid range point levels they are ok since you can't get to critical mass of firepower in all areas, but once you get beyond a certain point level they wipe the floor since you can't get past the staling units fast enough.
If you want to fight one, same sort of thing as the normal riptide, but you can't tar-pit it quite as easily. Its a lot easier to catch in a multi assault though due to it being rather immobile, so if you spot the chance to do it then take it.

Well thought out post and well put, total hogwash, but good post.
If your point was indeed correct why do we see armies with almost no scoring presence winning tourney, answer is they blow yours up first.

That, and a lot of the tournament scenarios troops are merely optional.
