If you count rules packages (explicitly Adepticon & others) as 'fan-made" (as technically they are made by fans as opposed to GW itself), then all the time. Almost all our tournaments use the scenario packets from some of the larger nationwide 40k tournaments.

Edit: A big 'thank you' to all of those involved in creating those scenarios in the first place and keep up the good work!

There is a fine line between genius and insanity and I colored it in with crayon.

House rules and scenarios, who doesnt use those all the time?

Never played against or with a fandex or fan made units or expect to in 40k or fantasy.

Current 40k rules are so out of balance though I guess that balance isnt really the issue for now.

Well my FLGS banned the use of the Mysterious rivers, forests, and objectives rules in games of 40k due to how incredibly stupid they are.

I have "house" rules where I'll use vehicles and sometimes equipment from outside a specific codex. Baal Predator in an Ultramarines army, for example. I've also cobbled together my own Predator with a Grav Cannon and Grav Amp in the turret. I figure out the cost it would be if it existed in the codex I'm using and then buy it like that. As long as your opponent knows what you're doing it usually isn't an issue. It's not like I'm putting down a Warlord Titan on the table, after all.

Well I've used my Kustom Ork Kodex that I recently created. It's rather fluffy and a tad OP when it comes to HQs. And we're testing out house rules for Sweeping Advance involving only being allowed to sweep if you outnumber the fleeing gitz.

At the moment, I'm playing Deadzone and the only house rule that I'm using is that the friend/foe listing is used on the deployment zone card as well to determine whether you are the red or blue team.

We do this too.

We also play a heavily modded Necromunda (see sig) and a 15mm sci-fi game of my own design. And today is our first playtest of a new 40k ruleset inspired by Pancake Edition.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.
