Decided to model a custom base on to him today, will probably be adding the base coat of paint to all the different components tomorrow!

I'll have to snap a pic of mine. I did the opposite arm, so I kept him carrying the sword while grabbing the handlebars.
Looks really good. I fubar'd the arm holding the throttle, so I'm re-doing it. Slowly learning here, and just realized how great pinning is.

Yeah, I'm slowly learning the art of pinning, not as slowly as learning about green stuff! I contemplated doing the other arm, I thought trimming the right arm would be too difficult, I'd love to see a pic of yours dude?

Decided to do something special with the exhausts, or at least try to! I thought I'd blended the wheel together well enough, but it turns out I didn't :-S too late now. The front has blended well!

Some excellent conversions here guys!
As for the sword, why not simply glue a sheathed sword behind the angel wing handle guard? Actually attach it directly to that, should be enough room there...?

I'm actually considering not fitting a force weapon at all. I don't think it'll look right anywhere, and I don't want to ruin the model.

I had to file away some of the pouches on the back end of the bike for mine. I sat and stared at it for a lil while before committing but I'm happy with it.

Added a little paint today, it's all first layer stuff and not very neat, just to keep this thread up to date!

Looks like a great start, looking forward to the end result.

Thanks dude, this is the first proper model in my list! Haha, I pretty much decided on a raven wing list because I wanted to make this guy! Plus I love black knights!

I've got a bunch of Ravenwing that I got mostly for nostalgia :/ lol!
Way back when Ravenwing was a White Dwarf codex, I think it was 4th edition 40k? WD issue 200something
I recall numerous occasions where the combination of the old crossfire rule where a unit is obliterated if it falls back through line of fire of a unit that hadnt fired yet, and the DA libby power of forced leadership test on 3d6 or fall back immediatly... speeders and bikers libbys... nasty nasty list
:-o
Lol I ramble on perhaps a good thing that crossfire rule is a thing of the passed eh
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the froce come together then, keep us updated

Ohhh man... as a Dark Angels player i can't help but love ALL of this stuff.
This is such a great idea for a conversion. I should probably look at doing something similar for my dudes. I'm working on an attack bike at the moment myself.
If you want something else that is awesome at filling gaps and easy to work with, take a look at the vallejo model putty - it's what i'm using at the moment. Just slather, dry, file, sand, done.

Cool, I'll look out for it. I'm actually getting on ok with green stuff. It is pretty difficult, but I'm getting there.
It's actually quite an easy conversion to do, the waist joint is quite east to hide and tidy up so it doesn't need to be super neat. And personally I think it's the best looking Libby biker you'll get!

No, the casting arm is on the front half of the torso, it's still very much intact!

Ah yes... My bad. I usually assemble completely, then paint (and since I magnetize every weapon/arm that's not an issue anymore), so I tend to forget other people do it different

Tell me about it
Mine will take a very special treatment too... And since my painting skills have improved, I hope he will turn out nice I found out I started to use glazing without even knowing... But the effect is huge with OSL. And I finally figured out what went wrong with my oil washes. Using these on the feathers on the bike in a blue tone should look really great if I get it to work.
The base looks really nice, btw. Icky and nidish-y, but great!

I haven't worked glazes out yet. I got hold of the complete GW paint kit of every single one, but haven't worked out how to use half of them.
The base is supposed to be a daemonic possession base. I originally bought them for a squad of death guard bikers I never built, it's supposed to symbolise his mind in the warp!

Glazes, as per GW guidance are used to blend layering together. Painted over the top to help blend the transition between shading.
But theyre incredibly good for underpainting, if you work in monotone - maybe grey scale.. maybe brown-->white or some other colour.
You can then tint the whole thing with a glaze of a colour, and increase the vibrancy of the colour with more layers of glaze.
Airbrushers do this, they call their glazes 'Candy paints' - technically Candy paints are dyes suspended in Lacquer, but theyre are basically highly transparent paints that can be layered up to achieve colour depth or mixes.
