I think
GW is run by the Inquisition. Basically a group of people that
1. Don't really communicate well with each other and/or have opposing internal goals, (see any rule book with conflicting mechanic issues)
2. Who mercilessly try to squash things outside of themselves they don't understand even if it's helpful (ie: the Internet, 3rd party bit suppliers, sites that post news stories thereby doing
GW's marketing for them, ...)
3. Highly secretive while thinking it's a good thing (attempts to quash all advanced release knowledge, no visible means of real customer interaction other than to take their money)
4. Arbitrary decisions which fail to show any type of internal logic, consistency or common direction (several
FAQs from last year - including the infamous reference back to the Most Important Rule about rolling for it on a very important
FAQ question)
If they were run by a Genestealer cult then I'd expect:
1. Lots of smiling faces doing whatever it takes to keep you in their lairs (exa: more gaming tables in the stores and encouraging people to hang around, customer loyalty program).
2. Encouraging others to bring yet more into the fold (exa: helping bits suppliers, giving content to news sites, general marketing stuff).
3. Using their probiscus tube to directly "infect" you: (exa: giving away free product or running sales to encourage new people to join. No, the "free" 2 piece marine doesn't count - if they even do that anymore).
